Debbie's 5:2 diary and dreams of being thin

Last night proved that a change is needed, I thought I would go on a bike ride to try and build up for the 10K race for life. After struggling to get my sprts bra and trackie botttoms on (these used to fit comfortably when I considered myself fat, so now what am I??) and then cycling for what was supposed to be 6 miles and turned out to be 4, getting home and crying because I couldn't get my sports bra off, I decided that was it. Change now and stop feeling sorry for yourself!!!!!

I have tried all diets and am currently on a slimming world count down which lasts another 4 weeks, to say I have been yo yoing and not sticking to my syns is an understatement. A 6 week gain in one week!!! Seriously how many people on a diet can claim that.

So anyway, my cousin in law was in the mirror last week helping with the promotion of this diet, so I thought I would give it a go. Surely 2 days fasting a week can't be that difficult, the rest of the week I can be a normal 30 year old.

Today is a fasting day and I have calculated my BMR at 2160, so a quarter of this is 540 kcals to be consumed. Below is my menu as exported from fitnesspal

Hi Debbie, I've defected from SW too lol! I did my third fast today and it's much easier than I thought it would be. One thing I noticed from your post, you say you're having 25% of your BMR? You're supposed to have 25% of your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). If you're using your BMR you're cheating yourself out of some valuable calories! Good luck with it and keep us posted on how you get on.

Hiya, I multiplied my BMR by 1.2 (sedentary lifestyle), are you doing 5:2 or 4:3 or 6:1. How much do you have to lose (being nosy here :) )

Debbie x

Welcome Debbie. I lost over 3 stone on SW but came to a stand still so started calorie counting. Lost a bit more initially but have been maintaining for the rest of the time and it was starting to get me down! My lowest weight in all of this was 10st0.8 and atm I am 10st6.2. I'd like to lose another stone but as I haven't lost anything to speak of in over a year I think it will be slow.

Anyway, this is my 4th week on 5:2 and I'm doing ok. As krupskaya says, it's not as bad as you think! Yesterday I managed to fast from 7pm Sunday to 6pm Monday. I've lost 4.8 since the start but all of that was in the first week. Hoping to lose more when I weigh in on Friday.

Good luck with this week. Keep us posted. X

Hi Debbie, didn't realise you'd multiplied your BMR by 1.2 - in that case you've got the right figure. I'm doing 4:3 for my first week or two then dropping down to 5:2. I've only got about half a stone I need to lose as I lost most of it (4 stone) on Slimming World. I had reached a bit of a standstill with SW though - this has got things moving again fortunately.
