    Another Newbie :)

    Hi all

Earlier last year i made an attempt at JUDD and two illness followed by a 2 week holiday in america just completely threw me off. Obviously i saw the Horizon programme and was very interested in it. My family has a history of dementia and i'd like to get the stone off that i've put on since finishing Slim and Save. I've done pretty well to have only put a stone on.. When i came off LL i'd put 2 stone on before six months was out! Anyway i'd been doing a lot of research and was prepared to do JUDD again but like the idea of having my weekends without having to mess about with what i'm eating so thought perhaps this might be a better way for me? I'm off work sick at the moment and finding i'm not actually hungry until about 5/6pm so i'm wondering whether or not to combine 5:2 with Fast 5? Hmmm dunno....

Anyway i made my first attempt at fasting last week. I worked out my TDEE to be 1705 as i'm unable to exercise at the moment. My first fast was Wednesday and i made a poor meal choice meaning despite leaving eating until 8pm i was ravenous afterwards and ending up having 817 cals! Whoops. Second fast was Friday and i came in at just under 400 calories. However every other day of the week i've eaten way more than my TDEE (on one day it was more than 3000!) and mostly rubbish foods so i fully expected to have gained weight this week. Surprisingly i'd maintained my wieght!

Anyway my next fast day is tomorrow. Fingers crossed i don't mess up again.
    Sarah x

    Hi there!

I'm new to this aswell, I think I'm doing something similar to the Fast 5. I'm fasting for 16 hours and then eating for 8, obviously not the whole 8 though! I tried to do the 5:2 plan before the one I'm doing now and just couldn't hack it. I was eating way too much on non fasting days, and felt like I just couldn't control myself. I'm finding the 8 hour window for me a lot easier. It means I never have to go the majority of the day without eat, I have my first meal at 1/2pm then an evening meal around 7pm and a little dessert type snack before I stop eating at 9pm.

    I'm a newbie as well!!!

Its my first fast day and so far so good, I have bought 2 x Meal soups from Sainsburys for my food today. I was planning on having a lateish lunch and then dinner.

I plan on using My Fitness Pal to count my calories for my other days, I can have 1850 on those days which seems like a good amount of calories.

I am hoping to bring a little control back into my eating habits as I have been way out of control since before christmas.

    Good Luck Everyone!

Manage to get through fast day 1 ok, I thought it would be harder but my hunger was manageable.

Fasting again tomorrow, fingers crossed I will have a similar day.

    How is everyone else doing?

Hey does anybody fast from one evening to the next? I'm thinking of doing it 6pm to 6pm so that I can still enjoy dinner with my family - just wondered if anybody had done it this way and still got results.

Carrotima i think quite a few of the JUDDer's do this. Read Hannata's diary, she started doing something similar and found it quite effective.

Wow so many new starters since i posted this. Glad your doing so well Juliebags. I on the other hand am doing awfully. I just can't stick to 500 calories at the moment but i can go a long time without eating so think i'm going to switch to either 8 hour or 5 hour fasting. Lets see what this weeks weigh in will bring.
