New to 5:2 :-)

Good evening I'm Kelly and I've been a member of minimins for years! I work in an operating theatre and a good few of our surgeons have been doing 5:2 so thought I'd give it a go! Fasting tomorrow and Monday as going to Manchester overnight Saturday so may change days next week so how do you all do it? Do you just eat what you fancy on a feast day? Or do you stay within brm? Hope to "chat" soon x
 
See I do it a way another member does, I looked on myfitnesspal at what calorie allowance would be for a 2lb a week loss & times it by 7 (for me that was 8400) took off my 1000 ( 2 x 500 cal fast days) & divided the rest by 5 & came out at 1480 so I'm trying 1500 cal up days. I think it's all gonna be trial & error
 
You may be overthinking this - the simplicity of the diet is in the book.

I've never bothered to work out what I should be eating - just the calories on my down days. Stay off the very high calorie foods and don't binge on the eating days and see what happens. If you're not losing, then have a look at calorie counting on the eat days - you'll porbably find you don't need to.

I've read the Michael Moseley book last year but for me I still need control. I know a lot of people don't count but after over 2 years of cal counting it's impossible not to do so. I am also close to goal weight so it's harder for me to lose. I'm 8lbs down after 7 days 4 UDs & 3 DDs
 
Thank you for your replies I am 2lb down after doing 5:2 which I'm happy with I hadn't tracked on non fast days and still had a loss this week I'm keeping an eye on what I eat should I have lost more? Next week I may do 3:4 :) xx
 
I'm new to 5:2 too but thought I'd follow SW on my up days but I have a horrific habit of over eating on SW too as I view the 'free' food as exactly that :-(
Maybe like u say try not to over think.

Think maybe that's what I need to do slimming world with 5:2 I've thrown an extra fast day in today lost 1lb thus week xx
