Exclamation Surely it's not healthy??

Given all the reports in the papers lately, should we be aiming to drink quite so much water each day. On average we lose 1L via urine, 500ml from sweat and 500ml from our breath. Any more consumption than that is in excess of what we need. Excessive amounts ie 4L can cause real medical problems. Cells in your brain will swell, due to osmosis, which will cause massive problems for the body. It isn't just me saying this, ask anyone who is qualified in this subject. It would appear there is so much pseudo quackery medical advice out there, that people are putting themselves in danger. Wise up, please do some research, if you can find some peer reviewed medical research that says there are health benefits to drinking high levels of water I would be very interested to be directed to them. Until then I think it is foolish to egg people on to drink quite so much water.

Comments most welcome
