Red face To W8 or not to W8 - Truthful advice needed

Hi Guys,

Firstly I am new here so hi to everyone!

I was speaking to my doctor this morning and very seriously considering trying a VLCD.

Originally I was going to go for the CD but having read about W8 with 4 meal packs a day (psychologically sounds better to me even if the calories are the same as in 3) and also the prospect of Spag Bol W8 has almost won me round to their way of thinking.

I have been reading this board and I would just like a bit of advice before signing up.

One of my concerns is that there are not a lot of counsellor and those who are around are leaving. If anyone knows of a counsellor anywhere near please let me know.

Secondly the company doesn't seem to be the most.... professional of outfits I don't want to start a programme then get no support because there are no counsellors or worse have the company shut down and leave me high and dry... and starving!

My last concern is that the weight loss is not as quick as CD or LL or any other VLCD, do people find this program to work as well as the others.

Thanks for any advice and I look forward to getting to know you all

Love

Sl(im)possible

Hi slimpossible,
i am relatively new to the forum and in the process of becoming a senior consultant for W8. My experience with the company so far has been nothing but positive, from practical help to the ethical way they seem to conduct business. In Scotland certainly, there are many practices opening and in some instances there are people being dissappointed at missing out on a W8 business opportunity.
I have a long history in critical care nursing and so have researched widely before entering this venture. The principles for the plan are sound and the set up and support available for clients is comprehensive, one to one meetings, group meetings, internet & phone support.
I have not done the plan myself, but have lost weight with great effort after my kids on weightwatchers. W8 have a similar uplifting group support model with the advantages of quick effective weightloss with VLCD and adopting a healthy psychological attitude to food by including it as an integral part of the plan.
I and i'm sure any of the W8 consultants would be happy to have you as an online client and offer all the support you might need.
As for the actual meals, then i'm sure you will get lots of honest replies to your querie from all the great folks on the forum.
Hope this helps, sorry for long ramble!!!

Weight loss is comparable with CD/LL/LT

http://www.minimins.com/w8-formerly-...ter-photo.html

Willie has lost 39lb in 12 weeks with a week off ...I am on LT for 15 weeks SSing with no breaks and have 43lb off!

The guidelines are around a stone a month but this can vary up as well as down as everyone is uniquely different and lose weight at their own pace.

Carolanski 39lb off...not sure how long she is on it?

hanloje 25lb....?

Lyndsey 53lb...?

pocketdragonslizzie 28lb...?

Shiny 38lb...?

lolo 46lb...?

kazzamce 30lb...?

Our W8 forum here is relatively new but growing in numbers all the time and you can see from the quick sample above the weight loss is impressive.

I see jello has given you loads of information and I am sure you will hear some more views shortly.

At the end of the day I would like to wish you all the best with whatever diet you decide on.

Diet: W8 Matters
Hi! I have been on the program for 12 weeks and have lost more weight thank I have ever done. I feel brilliant and people take a second look when they see me as they do not recognises me first time around.

I dont know where you got that consultants are leaving like Jello says people are clambering on this train. I would have liked to become one myself but the areas are being picked up fast.

You have nothing to worry about this diet is great.

The company is going thorough growing pains and like any business growing fast there are a few hick-ups along the way but they get them sorted quickly.

Go for it and come back to this forum it is great for support.

Hi there - and soon you will be changing your name from Sl(im)possible to SLIM=possible!!!!

I understand your concerns as this is a newer diet than the others and the company is growing quickly, but the general consensus is that the major teething probs are over now. I wasn't aware that there were consultants leaving - and I'm sure if there were any major problems we would receive enough notice to source a new plan from one of the other VLCDs if necessary. I'm personally not worried about them going down the pan!!!

Whereabouts are you in London - I know there are consultants covering parts of London. Others on here sign up with their nearest consultant and even if they cannot get to see them they are offered support over the phone and online. My consultant is 45mins-1hours drive away and I'm happy to make the journey. The support on here is also fab - everyone is really friendly, supportive, we pick each other up when we are struggling - we share tips and generally keep all our spirits up. Its a very positive forum - the guys here doing W8 are really upbeat and helpful.

As for weight loss - everyone is an individual and your rate of weightloss maybe be greater or less than another's but we are seeing some really great losses - I've lost 2st 11 in 12 weeks and my losses are probably slightly below average (but I'm still chuffed to bits - took me 8months on SW to drop 12 pounds!!!!). The average weightloss in the first 3 months is 3-4 stone. Check out everyone's tickers to see how well they are doing. You also have the opportunity to Add a Meal every day on this plan if you want, or every weekend (and still achieve good weight loss) and the shakes/soups are in my opinion very nice. The spag bog is absolutely lovely.

The plan definitely works if you stick to it.

Good luck with your journey - whatever plan you decide upon

If you have any other Qs just ask away

Cool Thanks

Thanks for the speedy and informative replies. I think I saw a couple of threads about counsellors leaving and also a couple about not having counsellors in various areas.

I think that I will go for the W8 diet, just going to jump on their page and see if I can find any counsellor nearby, don't fancy spending £50 a week on email and phonecalls. (Just finishing a MSc Distance Learning and realise that I don't have distance discipline)

Thanks again and if anyone knows of a counsellor who covers the NW london/ harrow area please let me know.

I think you should give it a try, find out if there's a counsellor near you, I didn't have one but she's taken me on anyway and has been invaluable for email support so far.

I'm only on week 2 and feeling great, see my profile pictures for the difference in 1.5 weeks!!!! What have you got to lose???

At first the four mealpacks a day are fab, you can split them up but after a few days when you're not so hungry anymore it's a lot easier.

I found the water difficult at first but now find that I'm thirsty as I've got used to it and the toilet trips have decreased.

You can commit to it for one week and see how you get on???

Hope you make a decision that's right for you anyway, it is very hard at first but well worth the struggle. And the Spag Bols are heavenly!!!!

Think there is a consultant in the Barnet area which is quite near isn't it? Go for it!

Hello and welcome!

As Carolanski so rightly said I have been on the plan for 6 weeks and have lost 2 stone.
I didn't have a consultant for the first 4 weeks but new ones seem to be popping up all the time and there's one in my area now.
While I was dealing directly with Head Office I couldn't fault them though, they were fantastic. Go for it, the mealpacks are yummy!

Thanks again everyone for your replies. I really felt a lot more confident after reading them all and really think the plan sounds great.

In the end though I think I will be going for the Cambridge Diet only because I managed to speak to a consultant last night who sounds LOVELY and I think that for me liking the person who is weighing me is half the battle.

Very excited about starting this new VLCD thing and am trying to cut down on carbs and fat now so its not too much of a shock. Feels wrong to be excited about living off shakes and soups for 3 months but maybe it shows that I RMITT!!

I do hope I will still get to know all you W8-ers though even if I can't join in on the conversations about how amazing the spag bol tastes!

Well done on making your decision, I was the same excited, nervous and optimistic and two weeks on I'm absolutely loving it, seeing the weight drop off and not being hungry is amazing!

Good luck to you, sure you'll do wonderfully, you'll have to keep us posted on your progress.
