Mel's Diary

Well I thought I'd try logging my days, as I find myself telling friends and family members about my diet woes and I think I'm boring them lol whoops

My journey so far, I started four weeks ago at 13'9 ..... I had been doing slimming world and lost only 7lbs in 3months then managed to gain it all again in two weeks! Shocking I know but it was far too easy to cheat for me.

So I started again here at 13'9. Week before last I managed to get down to 12'13 and was overjoyed but after taking mum to the pub gin took over and I had bread and crisps and went back up to 13'0 at my last weigh in on Saturday.

I worked the weekend, a gruelling 48 hours shift and thought to be honest I'd screw it all up but I've managed to keep on plan.

Until this morning: DO NOT MISS BREAKFAST - I had a small dinner last night but missed breakfast this morning and my god I feel ill.... I've just nearly fainted up town and had to grab food from the nearest place :( Mc'Ds chicken nuggets.

So I'm currently sat on a car park waiting for the feeling to pass so I can drive home and cook some chicken. Along with that the guilt of knowing that the nuggets are carb loaded and probably set my weight loss back a week.

Lesson well and truly learnt!!

Ended the day by stocking up on scratchings and pepperami's ready for the next two days at work.

I've written this morning off and justified that I really didn't have another option.... Saying it enough makes it true right?

Craving sugar right now so satisfying it with sugar free squash and going to boil some eggs tonight to grab in the morning so I dont make the same mistake again x watching home and away with all those slim bodies is enough to spur me on!

Enjoy your evening x :)

Hi Mel and welcome:)

It's always difficult when you get started on a new woe but planning is a mainstay of atkins. I do recommend never getting hungry - i've decided there is no such thing as will power - only lack of hunger:D

If yo do get caught out another time - burger from mcds and dump the bun is survivable choice. Not really a meal but might let you get somewhere with better choice

Good luck

Thanks I will give that a go next time... I have to admit I panicked at the little man chatting to me through the box and ordered the only chicken thing I could think off lol

I think you are spot on with the will power comment x when hunger strikes anything can happen x

If you have any other tips and tricks I'm all ears :)

Hi Mel and welcome :)

Katie is spot on, when I fall off the wagon it's usually down to not planning/cooking ahead. Make tomorrow your start date, get all the food in that you need for a week, say, toss/give away/hide all the carby stuff in the cupboards and plan your meals out. I usually cook up a storm on the weekends so I'm sorted for my meals during the week.

Thanks :) that's great advice... I will certainly be more prepared from now on x

So far today my day started at 6am getting my autistic pre teen and his attitude out of bed and ready for school before heading for work at 7am for my 48hour shift looking after kids in care x

I had 3 x Herta hotdogs to make sure I wasn't running on empty today.

Work has been manic with no proper chance to cook so I have had 2 x pepperami's and some ham with melted cheese on top

Plus I had a cup of tea with a dash of milk. I usually have black coffee but the coffee here is awful x

Tonight I have to stick to pre planned menu so it's spag Bol. I plan on just having the mince with fried mushroom and poss a couple of table spoons of gravy to stop it being dry x I know gravy has carbs but surely a tiny bit wouldn't e a massive impact would it?

Hope your day has gone well ladies?? X

I must try that next time :) unfortunately they didn't have any in at work x

Yesterday's food intake consisted of pepperamis, scratchings and a chicken breast wrapped in bacon with melted cheese and salad x

I was hungry towards the end of the shift so had a few slices of ham. And I didn't have much to drink at all, So i really must increase my water intake.

This morning I got home around 11am so only had two eggs for breakfast.

My keto sticks never seems to get past really light purple so I'm eager to see what the scales say in the morning x

Weighed in at 12'10 this morning x -4lbs so happy x i must have been in my very early 20's when I saw that number last x

Hi Mel, that was a good loss. How has this week been?

Hey, it's been a bit up and down to be honest, I've not managed any exercise and unfortunately staff at work didn't follow the menus for food shopping so all that was in for my 48hour shift was frozen processed rubbish :( I ended up having sausages.... And milk in my coffees as it was awful black with what they had.

So I'm not sure if it's fat gain or water weight but I've put on a 1lb when I weighed this morning.

I need to get re motivated... However I went on a date yesterday, first one in a long time and I felt super confident and he was gorgeous :) so I think that could be enough of a push lol

Now... Where did I put my trainers ;p

How about you, How have you been?

So I've had a sneaky weigh in this morning and I've gained 4lb :0o surely a couple of little unavoidable indiscretions wouldn't mean I gained that much weight...

If that it the case how on earth would you ever maintain :( I'm so gutted, stomach has swollen right back up and feeling as fat as I did when I first started. X

You sound a bit like me, I have a smidge of naughtiness and I gain lbs :-(
It is probably water so just flush it out with more water!
Don't let it get you down, try and stop the sneaky weigh-ins then you won't notice the fluctuations :) x

It's rubbish isn't it x I think it will only really work if I don't deviate at all from plan. It does worry me though that when it's time to increase those carbs will we gain every lb back?

my dad is doing the same plan. And he has lost over twice what I have lost in half of the time. Saying that I only have to look at a packet of cheese and onion to gain the weight of a small semi detached house! Lol x

I'll hit the water now and go for a lil walk, if nothing else will make me feel better :) thanks hun x

Such a big gain so quickly sounds like water weight to me - have you eaten something illegal? If that's the case the good news is it should drop off as quick as it went on. Just drink loads of water to flush out the naughties and stick to clean and green for a bit and it will whoosh off very soon.

In the induction stage Atkins isn't very forgiving of deviations unfortunately. Don't worry about maintenance though because when you get to the stage of increasing your carbs you will (hopefully! ) do it in a controlled and planned way by increasing the amount of the right things xx

What they said. Atkins isn't the most forgiving diet to stray from, but if you get right back on it you'll drop those pounds in no time. You're a very similar weight to me at the minute and I'm hoping (!) for a pound a week, although will be happy with even less, just want to see it go slowly and surely and then stay off!

Oh and is there a second date? Love that butterflies in the tummy feeling. :)

Thanks guys :) I've stuck to it like glue today and drank a small lakes worth of water and walked x

Second date... Yes yes he's coming to see me tomorrow evening. I can't wait. I'm so unbelievably excited. I feel like a giddy teenager. Even if it doesn't go any further this feeling is so worth it anyway xx

:woohoo:
