PogMoma's Diary

*Update: Dukan Diet (2nd attempt) Feb 17th - Apr 11th 2014. Carb cycling from April 27th 2014.

I've had diaries on here before but couldn't stick to one diet long enough to keep them going.

I've somehow maintained a constant 70-72kg for just over a year but this is not the weight and size I want to be!

Yesterday the scales showed 72.3kg and today shows 71.7kg.

Ideally I'd like to get down to 57-58kg which will put my BMI around 22 but I'm not sure I'll be able to get down that far, it's been YEARS since I was that weight and my body shape has changed a lot since. I'll see how my clothes fit and take it as it goes along. I have a pair of jeans I'd really like to fit into so although I'll try and lose weight, those jeans would be my ultimate goal. I'd be happy to be a constant size 10. Whichever comes first – the weight or size, I'm determined to lose until then.

My wardrobe consists of clothes sizes 8-14 and I’'m 14 at the moment. I think I gain weight, realise I might have to buy size 16, refuse and start dieting but then soon go back to my old ways and gain weight again. I've gained and lost the same 2 stone and a bit 4 times over the years and this is it.

I refuse to get back to this size again. I can't cross my legs comfortably, my inner thighs rub so my jeans always get thrown out due to the wear and my bottom feels like it's following me around everywhere. Not to mention I look pregnant!

I've been doing 16:8 diet (loosely) for the last couple of months which means I only eat between 12-8pm. I try watch what I eat but I do eat out quite a lot so it's not so easy a lot of the time.

To kick start the weight loss I have bought a months’ worth of Exante packs so that combined with 16:8, I will try and be strict on my calorie intake. It’'s not calorie counting as such but I like food too much to let run loose lol

The only exercise I do at the moment is walking back and forth to work which is 25mins each way. I need to do some more but after a few attempts at the gym, I've realised I'll never be a gym bunny!

I think I need to keep a diary on here to hold myself accountable, record what I do and get told off when I've been naughty :)

So yesterday was Day 1.

Had an Exante bar around noon, three cups of green tea and was planning to have a shake around 4pm, thought I had some at work but realised I didn't! Didn't feel overly hungry by home time but then OH wanted to go to Westfield in the evening and we ended up in TGIF. I put everything in MFP and total calories for the day added up to 1,709. Not too bad. Didn't feel bloated or overly full.

Today Day 2

Woke up very tired (food hangover?) so popped into EAT for a small matcha latte (275cals according to MFP) on the way to work. Coffee, tea and normal green tea don't really wake me up but I know matcha does so had to have one. Lunch is Exante shepherd's pie, will have a shake around 4pm and plenty of water and green tea in between. Last shake will be when I get home. If things go to plan I will end up with total 877cals for the day.

Hmm in addition to what I originally planned for today - some baked beans, some chocolate and a few digestive biscuits take me a total 1,616cals. Not ideal. Better tomorrow.

Why did I have chocolate and digestives last night? OH always has chocolate stocked up but I don't even like it apart from sometimes when it's TOTM. As for the digestives, I wanted just one but the rest of the pack wouldn't fit in the airtight container so I ate more until it fit. Doh.

Anyway, draw the line and don't do it again!

I had dinners lined up for tonight and tomorrow night but both got cancelled cos of the tube strikes. Good for me diet wise I suppose :) Let's be good and stay on track.

Work has a food trolley that goes round the floors three times a day. Breakfast, lunch and cakes/treats.

Bumped into the lunch trolley today and really fancied a chicken salad. It had chicken, ham, rice, green beans, couscous, chickpeas, peppers, salad leaves, purple cabbage, sweetcorn, tiny bits of olives, lentils and olive oil & balsamic vinegar dressing. Size was slightly smaller than a normal cereal bowl. Very interesting flavours but it took me a long time to eat. Don't know how many calories but let's just say 400. Very full now.

Finishing off lunch with a cup of tea 35cals.

Got thinking, if I had to put a label on my diet what would it be?

It's not even Exante WS even though I do use the packs for meals because 200cals with vitamins and minerals is better than cr*p food with more calories.

I suppose the one thing I'm trying to stick to is the 16:8 - only eating between 12-8pm.

My TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) worked out based on no exercise is 1662cals so I try and eat below that per day but really people say you should eat 80% of it (which is 1330cals for me) if you want better results.

Hi PogMoma, well done getting started and starting off your diary. Do you have a myfitnesspal account? It's a great way to keep track of calories. That salad from lunch sounds absolutely divine! I'm doing quite a strict diet for 7 days (on day 3) and even a salad just sounds amazing at the minute lol.

Best of luck with everything :)

Thanks Clareel, I do have a MFP account, that's how I log my calories. The salad was amazing and it kept me full all day! What kind of strict diet are you on at the moment? I must go see your diary and read from the beginning :)

Day 3

Lunch: Chicken salad from the work trolley 400cals (guess but possibly lower)
Tea with milk and sugar 35cals
Dinner: Pizza Express 812cals
Two cups of green tea and 1litre of water. Must drink more water.

Total 1,247cals

Got an email from Pizza Express with a 40% off voucher due to the London tube strike so of course I "HAD" to go lol
Normally I'd have a starter, main and maybe even dessert but today I had the bruschetta, half a pizza and half a coke. Shared the pizza with my OH as he wasn't that hungry.
Sounds naughty but compared to what I'd normally have, I'm quite happy about it especially since I'd finished eating by 7pm. I don't feel stuffed which is good. No more food for me today!

Well done on making good choices at pizza express! Sounds like you've had a good day :) The diet I'm doing is basically quite low cal, lots of eggs and grapefruit! Had lamb chops for tea this evening though so it's not all bad. I'm only doing it for a week though, just to give me a bit of a boost! Google 'James Duncan diet' if you want to see the actual plan.

Hope the tube strike isn't causing you too much trouble, OH lives in London and has had to work from a different office today and tomorrow because of it.

I feel like I had a good day. Oh yea, forgot, someone brought in birthday cakes but I politely declined saying I was on a diet. That person tried for a couple of hours to make me eat some (in a jokey way) but I told him to b*gger off lol

Said no to biscuits and Percy Pigs as well. There's always so much food in the office. It's either someone's birthday, someone's just come back from holiday or someone just felt like bringing in treats. The girl who sits next to me knows that I'm constantly trying to lose weight and whenever I refused food today she smiled at me and said well done :) Silly little things make you happy sometimes!

Ahhh the egg and grapefruit diet. I knew someone who did it, it worked but they went straight back to their old ways after that and put it all back on! I'm sure you'll be more sensible tho :)

The tubes don't affect me personally especially since I walk back and forth to work but a lot of people had a nightmare getting in today. I wonder if they all got home ok??

Hi pog, catch up with ur diary later. Have a nice day :) x

Welcome TH :)

I had a peek on the scales this morning and I've lost 1kg since Monday! Happy with that :) Whatever I'm doing must be working although am hungrier than usual this morning.

Since I stopped eating at 7pm yesterday I'll try hold out as long as possible but if by 11am I am REALLY hungry I'll have an early lunch.

Woo well done on your 1kg off! Keep up the good work Pog it's obviously doing the trick :)

Egg and Grapefruit I know it's a proper fad diet lol, I'm sure my mum did it in the 80s before her wedding or something. Just wanted to give it a try really and see if I can be committed enough to complete it! I did a juice detox in January for a few days and just felt like it gave me a boost, so hoping for a similar effect. Straight back to calorie counting afterwards although I'm flirting with the idea of intermittent fasting again as had some success with that previously. Also considering doing a whole 30 but really not decided yet, will stick with calorie counting until I make my mind up!

Well done on saying no to cake and sweets in the office. I work in a hospital so its the same people always bringing sweets and biscuits in to say thanks which is really nice, but just so tempting!

Hope you have a good day today :)

Thanks Clareel :)

I thought I'd have a very low calorie day today, almost fast day so went and made Exante Shepherds Pie. Oh dear. I couldn't finish it. It tastes horrible :( I think I've gone off the packs again. I should have known better than to buy a whole load when I knew I went off them before and couldn't stomach them after a while. Oh well, best be putting them up for sale on FB!

Hey PogMoma, sorry you didn't enjoy your lunch. I did Slim & Save in 2012 and thought the packs were great at first but go so sick of them after a while, honestly think I'd vom if I had to eat one now lol. I did make a fair bit back selling them though, so at least you know you have that option. Hope the rest of the day has been good X

I even feel slightly sick now thinking about lunch. Yuck.

Day 4

Total 1,367cals

Felt slightly less wobbly than usual today. Couldn't figure out if I was imagining it or not. Drank loads more water than other days.

I love the shepherds pie! I'm having withdrawals because I've eaten them all and am left eating the 'ok' packs!!!

Have a good day :) x

Shepherd's pie used to be my favourite meal so I ordered loads! I've gone off them before tho but this time round I'm not planning to do TS so I'll get rid of them. An alarming amount of my hair fell out when I tried TS last year so I don't think it's for me :s

Have a good day too! :)
