Hi all
One of my "fall off the wagon" cravings is for pizza, so I thought I'd do a little survey and see what you fab cooks can suggest as an alternative?
Any base - flax, meat, whatever - all suggestions welcome![]()

me too... need a pizza right now! I'm wondering if some kind of low carb pancake with pizza toppings on and then grilled might work, but i'm not the best at cooking, and the pizza would be all thin and, probably not good. I did just find this info on the net though:
"Soya Flour has 19.7g carbs per 100g (Full fat) and 28.2g per 100g (Low fat) on average.
That's Total carbs which we use in the UK.
Ordinary Flour on average has around 60 - 80g per 100g depending on the type. "
so I wonder if a (thin to minimise carbs) pizza base could be made using Soya flour? But any flour at all probably isn't all that great due to spiking blood sugars, even at lower carbs. Might be a compromise instead of falling off the wagon completely though.
I also miss eating burgers, quarter pounders specifically. Read somewhere online that portobello mushrooms make a good burger bun substitute so going to give that a try, bought some this week, and will make the burgers from scratch too with mince because all the shop ones have carbs in. Now, come to think of it, you could probably create a nice little pizza off a portobello mushroom base...

never done atkins so dont know if this works for you, but we make pizza chicken-spread chicken breasts with red pesto and/or slices of tomato, chopped black olives and cheese-cook in the oven

Now that is a good idea! I made the pancakes last week and they were OK, so maybe fry them so they go crispy before toppings?
Home made ones are simple and much nicer - and carbfree! I'm going through a curry phase, but you can do cheese ones, herbs, mustard, yum![]()
Oooo pizza... it just so happens i stumbled across this recipe yesterday. The crust is low carb and it is supposed to be delicious

i mice cooked chicken breast in my blender with some uncooked courgette and 30g of cheese. This makes a sort of 'dough' that i flatten between 2 sheets of baking parchment the grill on both sides. i use this as bread for dips or this morning i had some left over from last night, i topped with butter and pate! I'm sure it would make a nice pizza base too.
I had to try one
This has, Kabanos sausage, green pesto, mozzarella, baby plum toms, black olives and rocket. It was lovely, the only think i may do differently is make the base slightly thicker and grill it more. Other than that i think i'm onto a winner. Total carbs including the 'dough' i mentioned above is 6.5g!
I use omelette as the base, and put whatever toppings I fancy on it, then top with grated cheese and grill.
Last time I had tuna, anchovies, prawns, red onion, bit of feta-Yum Yum!!!

Week 4 -2lbs
i use a gammon steak as the base!
i also do the smothered chicken breast, which is kinda pizzalike depending on what you put on it.
I've narrowed it down to 2 pizza crusts to try: the cauli one (mentioned above and there's one in the recipe thread) and the flaxseed one (ibreatheimhingry.com). Has anyone tried them and got any thoughts on which one is better?
Started at 220ish lbs in 2004 and lost on Atkins/ Cambridge.
I struggle daily to keep the weight away but I will not stop.
