Am just starting the Atkins diet today. So far so good I hope. Am still learning what I can and cant have. I did this years ago and forgot what I should be having but I always felt good on it. Unfortunately slipped into the carbs and ate too many so need to lose weight and feel good in myself.

Hi and welcome:) If you need any reminders on going low carb take a look at the stickie - so you are thining of starting atkins

Hi googlegloss :) good luck and as Katie says ask for any advice.

Hi both - thanks for the replies.

Need to go shopping but have done reasonable day yesterday and so far so good today.

Yesterday, had 2 sausages, bacon and fried egg for breakfast, lunch was tuna with fat mayo, cucumber, chunk of cheese and small amount of pickles beetroot and for dinner, had Iceland 100% beef quarter pounder (this had 0.3 grams of carbs) with slice of cheese and fried egg and a few pumpkin seeds.

Today so far had cheese omelette cooked in butter, tesco crustless quiche (not low fat) and 24 grams of carbs for half the quiche, some strawberries and double cream. Not sure about dinner yet though.

Any comments will be gratefully received.

Hi Sue, Well done getting started.

Not sure how strictly you are doing induction but just a reminder:
Sausages - be very careful on labels
Beetroot can often be a bit carby
Seeds and nuts and berries are technically for after induction
Re crustless quiche - recommend making your own as much better. Also are you aiming for induction 20g carbs? Try to spread them out across the meals a bit

Hope that's useful

Hi Kat1e

Not strictly doing induction, just know that I need to lower my blood sugars and low carb is the way to do it so just trial and error at the moment I guess.

Sue
