Induction Cambridge vs Atkins

Please help! I am on Cambridge 810 plan and am not losing weight.Have stalled for 2 weeks now. I am drinking the water religiously and having the packs. This weekend (today Friday actually) I have been cheating - 2 squares of chocolate and 2 tesco finest burgers nothing else) mainly out of boredom and frustration. I am so sad at being fat and frustrated that others are doing so well on CWP. I am so worried that my body is resistant to losing weight and that I will be fat and ugly forever.

I guess I would like to know what people think I should do. Give up CWP and focus on Atkins as I can eat and eat or ride with the CWP, get back on the programme and follow it; put the cheats of today behind me.

Please help - I feel like a failure, fat and just awful.

Please don't feel like a failure, diets like cambridge are very very hard to maintain. I find low carb eating works very well for me, it all depends on the individual but I like being able to eat nice, satisfying foods while losing weight rather than feeling like I am punishing myself if that makes sense? I didn't last on Cambridge, hope you find what works for you :)

I love this topic!

I'm a Cambridge loser; I've lost almost 50 kg on sole source and I'm currently looking to maintain as well as possibly lose a few more stubborn pounds. I've been introduced to Atkins as everyone swears it's great for maintenance especially after coming off a very restrictive plan like Cambridge. I'm still in the experimental phase for me I.e the 2 week induction and want to see how well I fare with induction.

So far I've spent 1 week and 2 days, I gained almost 2 kg water weight almost immediately with awful tummy pains to boot ( ouch) but as at yesterday I've lost all the water weight including 1 extra kg ( yey!!!!!!) . The tummy aches totally left after the 2nd day and the ketostix turned pink.

So far atkins looks like a keeper for me as I'm enjoying all my favorite forbidden foods; I'm eating with the family and I don't feel deprived like I'm on a "diet".

I've also broken a 1 month plateau!
Well, I still have a full box of cwp shakes left ( just in case) so let's see my verdict when I complete 2 weeks.

I'd like to hear from people with experience of both diets too!

Just like me! I've also restarted cwp but at a higher step. And my extra meal is strictly low carb and low calorie as I don't want to go over 1000 calories yet, and I love proteins :D. I've realized I'm highly carb sensitive from doing Atkins so I want to lay off sugar and carbs big time going forward. I've reduced my packs to 3 and sometimes 2 if I go overboard with the meal I add on. Let's see how it goes! NB: I can't really stand all the fat consumption on Atkins :(. How are you faring? :)

If you switched from Atkins to Cambridge then your body needs time to adjust. VLCDs are low calorie and low carb compared to the average diet BUT three packs per day equals around 60 carbs. On Atkins we eat half that amount, or less, most days/weeks.

I tried Atkins to Cambridge a few years ago and experienced the same frustrating stall. Worse, I seemed incapable of getting into 'true' ketosis. I was always STARVING. Nightmare LOL.

In your shoes I'd go back to Atkins and be really strict about sticking to the rules. But of course you are you. Good luck!

i have eaten all day, bacon, eggs, sausages, chicken salad for lunch, gourmet sausages and green veg for supper!! yum
I am following the atkins meal plans!!!!

I had a rubbish breakfast as I needed to go shopping - so 1 egg and an Atkins bar, Brie with salad and a low carb cracker for lunch, rhubarb and double cream snack, soya burger with egg, salad and blue cheese for dinner. Not greatest mix!

Made low carb microwave bread from Rose Elliot book - it's ok. Feeling low today - must be blood sugar :( it'll be ok in a few days

how do you make that microwave bread? Atkins flu?

I bought new jeans on Saturday - size 18 from a 22!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on the size 18 - that's fantastic!!!

Phase 1/2/3
150g ground almonds
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 beaten eggs

Mix it all together, put it in a microwave safe container. Microwave on full power uncovered for 2-3 mins or until bread risen, firm to touch and a skewer comes out clean. Mine took 3 mins - didn't rise much (maybe container to big) so more like chunky fingers. 13g carbs/44g protein for whole loaf. I've got 6 chunks out of mine. Nice with butter on. Will make it again possibly with a bit of sweetener or herbs.

Yes Atkins flu likely. Felt low today too - should feel better soon!
