    Any suggestions?

    5th week on Lighter Life and wondering if anyone has any suggestion on how to get a slightly better weight loss.

    Reading some peoples threads they often lose more than 3lb a week and notice the same in class. I dont cheat at all and go to the gym 3 times a week but still not losing anymore than 3lb max. Any ideas?

    Week 1 - 8lb
    Week 2 - 5lb
    Week 3 - 1lb
    Week 4 - 3lb
    Week 5 - 3lb

    What are you doing at the gym? If you're pushing yourself too hard you could actually be hurting your weight loss as you'll be burning through all your immediate calories, making your body hold on to fat! Running hard, for example, will burn immediate energy rather than stored because you're not allowing your muscles time to take in oxygen. Focus on walking and gentle muscle work for the best effect on LL!

    3lbs is a good loss though and is what most people experience. The heavier you are for your height the more weight you lose every week (generally) so the people you have seen lose large amounts every week probably have more to lose.

    I was also told by people at the gym when I used to go that rather than cardio, use the weight machines or the free weights, like the little dumbells. It may seem daunting at first but people who use weights will see their weight loss sped up more than simply running or using the cross trainer.
    I used to use the rowing machine, then do arm weights, then leg weights.
    Something to do with your body having to expend vast amounts more energy trying to maintain your muscle than simply getting your heart rate up on the cardio machines.
    And don't worry, I never bulked out but my skin got tighter on my arms so I lost some of my bingo wings!
