Posted 15th March, 2009 at 08:28 AM by Craftyfox

Meet My Companions

Posted 26th January, 2009 at 01:35 PM by Craftyfox

First of all let me summarize my weight situation, when I first went to the hospital they weighed me at 178kg (392lb or 28st), I didn’t diet in any way between that September day until I started the liver reducing diet on the 3rd of January, although my family did keep their eye on me.
On the 3rd of January I was the same weight as above but on the 17th of January, the day I went in for my operation I was 166.5kg (366lb or 26st).

The Hospital Time

Posted 22nd January, 2009 at 04:03 PM by Craftyfox

I was taken to HDU (High Dependency Unit) because I’m 59yrs old and they thought I suffered with sleep apnea, the other three patients went back to Swan ward, I know it was about 0400pm by the clock near my bed but I don’t remember how I got in to my bed, anyway I do know that at six o’clock I was sitting in the chair tapping my fingers to the Police playing on the radio.

I felt amazingly good, the long wound on my tummy was only painful when I moved, I was allowed sips of water and...

My wife, two sons and I walked onto Swan ward (ward 11) at 0630am Saturday 17th of January at Walsall Manor hospital.
Most of the patients were still asleep and the lights were off in the bays, I was told to go and sit by my bed and wait for a gown to be brought to me then put it on and be ready for 0800am.
The gown came at 0715am, I put it on, packed my clothes and said goodbye to my dearest friends and loved ones. my family, and as I watched them walk away I wondered If I would ever...

Adapting to the diet

I was not quite so hungry this second week, getting used to the small quantities but not to the lack of variety.
At the end of this second week I'd lost 10.5Kg (23lbs) and I was starting to believe that I could keep this up for good and not have to go through with this operation, even though I had'nt succeeded in 45yrs.
It was just a cowards way out and my youngest son, Richard made me see that, the real question was, "do I want to be slim and normal or fat and unhealthy?"...
