    vampire advice wanted

Hi there, I noticed on here that there are a few 'vampire books' fans
I love vampire movies (blade, underworld and twilight etc) I could watch them over and over.
I had never read a vampire book as I thought they would not be as good as the movies but I ve just read 'vampire federation the uprising' (it was only £3 from tesco so thought I'd give it a go) it was fantastic and I loved, there is going to be a follow up book but I dont think its out yet.
I was hoping anyone could recomend the next vamp book I should read, I dont like anything too deep and complicated, just a good, fun and exciting read.
I am 36 so also didnt want the teenage stuff although is the twilight saga's worth a read (I ve seen all the movies so not sure if it would be worth reading now)
any advice would be greatfully taken!!!xxx

Have you read the True Blood series? I'm getting the set for my birthday and I watch the show so I deduce it must be good. If the show is anything to go by, it's definitely for adults.

Have a snoop around Amazon, there's usually loads of reviews and rec lists by genre.

Both the Twilight and True Blood series are good. Nice light fun reading.............and totally better than the films/tv shows.

They're not great literature by any means but if you want good, trashy escapism they're perfect (I'm 30 btw).

I think Dracula by Bram Stoker is a good place to start

If you're interested in folklore and how the idea of vampires has changed throughout history, I recommend Vampires, Burial and Death by Paul Barber. I read it for a module I did on vampire films at uni. It was really interesting and I keep meaning to buy my own copy.

The Anita Blake series is pretty awesome. There's about 20 books in the series, but they go downhill a bit after the 12th one, but the characters are so fab I just keep on reading.
Well worth a go, and you can probably get them for like a penny on amazon.
    Nothing will change
unless you yourself make it .

I loved the twilight series and re-read them every so often. I have asked for the true blood/sookie stackhouse books for my birthday in a few months and until them I have started the vampire diaries. They are nothing like the tv show and having only just finished the 1st book don't know if that is a good or bad thing!

Another great mini book/novella that was fab was the short and second life of bree tanner, a side book to the twilight series and nice to get inside the head of another vampire!

will have to have a search for the Anita Blake and kelly armstrong series see what they are like!

I am a new convert to the twilight saga...I watched the films 1st and I have recently just read all 4 books (in a week!) and they are far better than the films and explain so much more.
I started reading true blood yesterday and its more adult that twilight but looks like its gonna be a good read!

I have been reading the Morganville books by Rachel Caine. There are 8 of them at the mo.

They aren't high brow in the slightest and are incredibly easy to read (teenage books apparently) I read a review that said they were better than Twilight, though I don't agree, they are very good.

The main character is a mix of buffy/willow without the vampire slayer bit, hope that makes sense
