I've never felt the need to download books on the go to e honest. I usually have several hundred downloaded anyway. Just make sure you have plenty on it for going away and spend the money you save on accessories

I looked at this and after scrolling down for 15 mins found that it is the same as just going straight to Amazon's list.

I absolutely love my Kindle! No need for the 3G as you can download enough books to keep you going while you are away. So easy to use too. DH has he latest one and he can manage to use it so that says it all!!!
    Enjoy!

Yes and Yes. I really love ebook readers in general. I haven't tried the Kindle specifically, but you can buy all kinds of books online, or get them free. Try Project Gutenberg, that's public domain books.

It really depends on your budget. If you just want a ebook reader than go with kindle but if you have money to spend get either a ipad or asus transformer

I'd totally disagree that it's budget based. If it's an e reader go for a kindle. I have a kindle and an iPad I'd never read on my iPad. I hate it for that. If it's just for reading go for a kindle
