Starting again for the last time! It's going to be a long journey!

Today I am restarting my diet for the last time. I have struggled with my weight since I was about 4 years old, and have tried on and off various diets, from calorie counting to slimming world to weight watchers, and Rosemary Conley (all tried many times over). Now whereas all these diets work, I need the discipline of having no "free foods". So I am aiming for my calorie allowance to be my BMR, as calculated by my fitness pal, and am going to aim to do 3 sessions of 1 hour blocks of execise a week. I go to zumba on a Wednesday night anyway, so that helps. I am also a student with the open university, studying mathematics, and am needing to balance study time, and exercise time better.

Food for today: (BMR: 2190)
Breakfast: 3 weetabix (215 kcal), milk (100 kcal), 1tsp sugar (20 kcal), hot chocolate (131 kcal)

Lunch: slice pastry free quiche (300 kcal), chocolate biscuit (116 kcal), 120g grapes (75 kcal), bread roll (150kcal), large banana (90 kcal)

Dinner: 2 WW sausages (120 kcal), 300g baked potato (246 kcal), 30g lighter mature cheddar cheese (95 kcal), green beans (50 kcal), carrots (20 kcal)

Total kcal: 1728/2190

Off to do exercise DVD in a while

Just did my first exercise session of the week. It's good to be back on track! :)

Had a few afternoon snacks (will have to work on cutting them out eventually). I had a mini milk (50 kcal), a chocolate filled brioche roll (137 kcal), and 2 slices prepackaged cheese (98 kcal)

So that brings todays calories up to 2013/2190, so still on track. My fitness pal tells me if every day is like today I will lose 10lbs in 5 weeks! Just gotta keep going. :)

It's not going well today! I've been out for breakfast, then coffee shop in morning, out for lunch, out for ice cream in the afternoon, and am soon going out for a pub meal with friends for dinner! Will post exactly what I've eaten tomorrow, as need to start getting ready, and will be back late. I think I'm going to be reducing calories on the rest of the days this week by about 200 to compensate! At least I have zumba tomorrow!

I just replied but it disappeared ... how weird!!!

Don't panic - its one day out of seven

You have already done your exercise dvd (how many cals did you earn from this?) plus the zumba class cals burnt = ???

Just make sensible choices between now and weigh day (what day is weigh day?)

hope you've had a great evening and not worrying about the day's calorie intake x

Well I worked out yesterdays calorific intake for the day, and it came to just over 4500 calories! :O If I hadn't gone out in the evening, it would have been fine. but i will live and learn

So yesterdays food:

Breakfast: 1 croissant (215), 75g pineapple (82), blackcurrant squash (3)
Mid morning: hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows (321), large rice krispie traybake (450)
Lunch: spring vegetable soup (138), WW yoghurt (48), pepsi max (1)
Mid afternoon: cadbury cream egg mcflurry (350)
Pub dinner: 2 medium glasses red wine (238), roasted pepper & tomato soup (110), large white bap (252), toad in the hole with 3 pork & leek sausages, gravy, mash & broccoli & carrots (1124), very large slice chocolate flake cheesecake with 1 scoop vanilla ice cream (1226)
Home before bed: 2 glasses blackcurrant squash (6)

Total for day: 4564/2190 so over by 2374! If I cut calorie intake down to 1715 per day for the next 5 days, I can still pull it back! I just can't believe how much I ate!

sounds like you are well on your way to being back on track - I too am starting again. I'm starting tomorrow - I have a holiday in just over 15 weeks time, were going to Sydney. I know I wont be at goal by then, but even being a couple of stone down will be a bonus! Good luck on your journey - I'll be here following as I have a way to go yet!

Good luck to you baby cakes. I have been learning this morning, as tracking my food on my fitness pal, that all the foods I think of as healthy contain a lot of sugar - my apple & blueberry porridge for starters, and I couldn't believe how much sugar is in Morrisons nu me spicy parsnip and apple soup! Definately a wake up call! I want to get under 20 st for my holiday in mid July cos I want to be allowed on the water slides!

Food plan for today so far:

Breakfast: apple & blueberry oatso simple with s.skim milk (216), banana (80)
Lunch: whole tin nu me spicy parsnip & apple soup (196), bread roll (150)
Dinner: 3 fish fingers (150), oven chips (310), large serving garden peas (120)

So far calories used 1222/1715

I may have a snack this evening after zumba class - apparently going to burn 637 calories! ecstatic! :D

Never worry about your 'off' day. You're getting right back too it, you know where you went wrong and you are remaining focused now. Good luck!!

Thanks. I'm just glad there's no more planned meals out til July now! Good luck to you too!

It just goes to show you how easy it it so overeat - but you've figured out how you are going to pull it back - WELL DONE LMC!!!

That's the important part - recognising your error and finding a strategy to not let it ruin your diet week for you x

Good luck Baby_Cakes - have you opened a diary? how excitign to be going to Sydney - do you have family out there or is it a holiday of a lifetime? Looks like we are all aiming for the same target - to have lost a couple of stone before our hols - mine is also about 15 weeks (I think) away we are off to Turkey at the end of July

LMC its worrying when you realise sugar content isn't it - thankfully i don't really like those sweet porridges - but have you considered just making it up plain or use yog and then adding a bit of fresh fruit to give you the sweetness you like - it seems with lots of these "light" options you are taking high sugar over low fat. Just concentrate on the calorie content for now - you might find as you drop the weight that your tastes change - mine certainly have, I just really appreciate good wholesome food now

I think I probably will just concentrate on calories for now. Was just so in shock at the sugar contents in "healthy" foods. I knew I had a sweet tooth, but I didn't realise just how sweet. It was reassuring to see that (with excpetion of yesterday) i generally eat a balanced diet, and one not too high in fat :)

really disappointed to find out my zumba class is cancelled tonight due to lack of numbers. it's now at risk of closing :( Will try do my wii zumba for 1 hour instead tonight

We all have a day when we have a blow out, the best thing I find that helps me is to remember that 3 steps forward & 2 steps back is still moving forward!

Not really any other classes I can do. I'm in an isolated village, and can't drive. Evenings were ideal cos hubby could stay in and look after kids, whilst i went out. But the class did teach me that I CAN do exercise. off to try my zumba wii again in a mo! will let you know how much i manage.
