Let's get lean.... in 2014

Hi Everyone,

I thought I'd start a new thread for the new year

I'm 41, and currently bouncing in at 18st 2lbs, which, at 5'6" is ridiculous.

I'm aiming to lose 3st by mid April, for a holiday, as a starting target. I have tried as variety of diets before, with SW being the most successful, as its pretty normal eating patterns with no fuss. However, this time I'm going down the calorie counting route as I have a fixed target to hit

So, I'm dropping the excuses, about work and college and family commitments and let's see if I can't drop some lbs instead!

Xo

Hi Rachel

I had previously lost weight on SW, so I'm going to follow their general green day red day rules, but being much more disciplined on portion sizes, so not go over 1300 cals a day.

MFP is "my fitness pal" its an app you can download on your phone or computer to track calories. It also has a barcode scanner so you can calorie count on the go too! It can be a really useful tool and it's what i use to track :)
Oooh sounds good I like looking at the slimming world pages for recipe ideas so you will have to post us some :) xx

Hiya Rach,

Ah ha, yes I do have that. Its pretty handy, plus the discipline of having to update it really makes me think twice about portion sizes, which has to be as good thing.

My big downfall is alcohol, love a giant wine or 6. I'll have to get a new routine when I get in from work to reduce my intake....hic

Welcome & best of luck to you!

So, have been eating to plan, and have also cutout alcohol since the weekend(will try for 2 weeks). I'm finding spare time now I'm not sitting down with a wine. I'm tidying a drawer a day, which is quite satisfying. Decluttered food, decluttered house...... Yay

Still on track....yipee...

Today's menu
Breakfast: almond milk, some stawbs and blueberries in a blender as a smoothie
Lunch: some home made thai chicken soup
Dinner: roast pork belly with sweet potatoes

Was starving after about 9am, but just kept drinking instead. Was not at all hungry after the tasty, if as tad hot, soup. Dinner was tasty too. All low carb, low fat, no processed **** in it. What's not to like?

3lbs down so far. I'm pretty pleased. also because it's friday, i finish work early so i will squeeze in the gym on the way home. nothing major, but a out of puff fast walk on the running machine. better than nothing at all.....

So another day on target
Breakfast: scrambled eggs with mushrooms and courgette chopped up in it. Sounds ropey but was very tasty
Lunch: salad with Tiny piece of chicken
Dinner: tuna steak with baby potatoes and salad. Balsamic dressing (tbsp)
Got the tuna from asda, 3 for 9 pounds, brilliant value and nice n fresh!

Sunday today, so I had spare time to cook something
Have made thai chicken soup for tom lunch and fishcakes for tonights tea
Easy peasy, fesh cod from asda, cooked in the oven bag they give you, so no smell. Mashed potatoes, both cooled down, mixed together with an egg, bit of seasoning. Make into 2cm thick discs, pop in fridge for an hour. Lightly fried with coconut oil. Tasty, no processed rubbish, and you can freeze them.
