    Calorie counting or slimming world

    Hello I have 9 weeks until my holiday I want to loose at least 1 and half stone be4 I go which would be the best to follow and which is more affective?? help!! X

    Hi Caroline,

    I don't think it's down to which is more effective, I think it's which works better for you. I've done both CC and SW, and currently doing a mix of both! SW is great if you really struggle with being strict, purely because you're never hungry and you can actually eat, CC is slightly harder (depending on your calorie limit) because you have to add up more as you go and I think takes more time, though not necessarily more effort.

    If you're okay with portion control, I think SW usually fits in with calories anyway (though some may disagree), just out of curiosity before combining, I started adding up my daily calories on a normal SW day and it worked out about 1200-1500 anyway!

    I think the most important thing is that you choose and stick to one, because chopping and changing may mess with your head and confuse your body.

    Thanks for the reply, I have done both as well lost about 3 stone on Sw and and cc about 1 stone but the difference was I was very poorly so I'm not sure if that's why. Since I have done both I have put back on and more. This is due obviously to over eating but I had a serious operation and was on high steroids but now I'm off them and recovering well now my time to start again. X

    From the sounds of it, I'd go SW, purely because especially after an operation, it's important to feed your body well, SW will give you all the nutrition you need whereas you might be tempted to go to easier, more convenient food with CC simply because it's lower calories. I know when I did CC I lived on unhealthier things like cup a soups because they were low. Obviously down to you, and if you've done them both before you know how they work, which would you feel more comfortable with?

    % Lost 20.63%
    I was easily able to over-eat on SW and came back to CC - added some days up and it came in at over 2000 cals - Green days eating as much pasta, bread, lentils and rice etc as I wanted which did not work for me as I need to watch my portion control etc.

    weeks 5 and 6 - 4lbs lost - no class week 5 as it was Holiday Week

    Total .... 1 stone 2 lbs lost in 7 weeks

    August - 18 weeks and 2st 4lbs gone - now at target - 9st 2lbs - Maintaining at that weight.

    In my opinion 1100 is too low. I was told at RC class not to go below 1200 and that is for 2 weeks and then go to 1400 for 2 weeks.

    yes agree 1100 is to low i was starving but saying that i have only eaten 800 calories today. might have to have some supper tonight as have already had dinner and a treat.
    in trying to combine the two but can get hard cause of all the rut and vegetables. how you both doing with your losses? x

    breakfast fat free greek yogurt with a banana and muesli in the morning
    lunch home made soup with a piece of fruit
    Dinner chicken or fish with sw chips, mushy peas and side salad

    I am not a veg eater normally put my veg into soups, love shape yogurts or fat free Greek yogurts xx
