My Eat more, move more, lose more diary!!

Hi everyone,

I decided to come here and start a diary to hold me accountable in my weight loss journey as I try to make healthy lifestyle changes.

A little bit of history...

Yo-yo dieter for many years, the only time I've ever been able to lose a substantial amount of weight (4 stone) was doing a vlcd. It came back on, plus another 2 stone and I became the typical vlcd horror story. I spent the better part of a year wallowing in self pity and decided at the end of February this year, that enough was enough and joined slimming world.

I stuck to plan religiously, and walked my dog everyday 3-6miles. I found my weight loss very slow, and I logged everything I ate on MFP. I was losing half a pound here and there, gaining a lb here and there. And had a friend who was eating huge portions of food and losing 3lbs a week on average. I decided slimming world wasn't for me and began calorie counting.

By the middle of June I had lost almost 2.5 stone, I went on holiday for 2 weeks, watched what I ate, swam every day (lengths) and came back to see a delightful 1 stone gain on the scales.

I decided to take some advice from a very 'fit' male friend and he advised me to eat more calories. I'd been consuming around 1000-1200 per day, and he told me to eat 1600. Since then, the weight is coming off more steadily.

So here I am. I am currently 20lbs down from my heaviest weight, and hope to keep losing weight steadily over the next 10 weeks before I go to Florida.

I eat 1500-1600 calories per day, separated into 4/5 meals and snacks. I try the best I can to balance my macros at 40:40:20, carbs, proteins, fats and keep sodium low.

I walk my dog every day for an hour.
I do 30 minutes of strength training 3/4 times per week.
I do cardio classes at the gym 3/4 times per week and I swim when I feel like it.

I am going to keep this diary because my husband works away at sea for a month at a time and I find it very hard while he is away to stay on track, we seem to both do better together. I have a shop literally across the road from me, and I've asked them to ban me from buying chocolate, but they just laughed uncomfortably. I suppose they don't want to lose 20% of their revenue.

Please come and say hello, I will be having a neb at other peoples diaries too, it really helped me to stay on track when I was doing the vlcd, so I am hoping it will this time too.

Forgot to mention. My ultimate goal weight is to be under 160lbs, but I've set a mini goal of reaching 220lbs. I currently have 38lbs to go, and my weigh in days are Sundays.

Well done for making up your mind to do it and make a diary - it has kept me on the straight and narrow (well almost).
I lost 5.5 stone in 2000 (calorie counting) but over the last 18 months have put on 1.5 stone on so decided to get rid of it once and for all and also went to SW but like you it did not suit me and at one point I actually gained weight - eating large portions of free food.
So welcome to CC and Good Luck with the weight loss.

Thank you... Well done on the 5.5 stone. I didn't think I prepared myself for maintenance after doing the vlcd. I didn't believe the weight could come back as quickly as people said. But it did... I am hoping to do it by making sustainable changes this time around, I turn 30 next year, and I looked back over my late teens and 20's and want to put the yo-yoing behind me once and for all.

Morning all.

So far today I've had an alpen bar (double choc) and water, and I've just done 35 minutes body combat style workout followed by 35 minutes of strength training. I'm absolutely shattered!!!

Food I've got down for today is....

Breakfast: 2 Weetabix and semi skimmed milk
Lunch: Grilled pork loin, mash potato (no butter/milk), spinach and broccoli.
Dinner: 4 Crackers, Ham, philli light, 2 boiled eggs with no yolk.
Snack: Yeo Valley 0% fat natural greek yoghurt with a bit of sweetener.
All comes to 1400cals, 140g carbs, 140g protein, 20g fat.

Excluding the alpen bar.

I eat pretty boring Monday to Saturday, but up my calories to 2000 on sundays and eat more or less what I want within that 2000 cals.

Hi,

Sorry for the absence. I have still been following my plan this week. I am now down to 255lbs. So my total weight loss is now 23lbs. Mostly I have been eating to plan, I had a carvery the other day and didn't count what I had, but it doesn't seem to have done any harm!

I've been exercising a lot too. Going for my daily walks, and this week I've done body combat a few times, zumba, and swimming at the gym, and weight training at home. One of my friends has become my gym buddy so it's been really helpful to me.
