Into my wedding dress....

HI everyone

I'm starting my cc journey today. Previously I have lost almost 5 stone with slimming world and gained 3 back. Then lost it again with TFR then gained it back. So now I'm looking for something more permanent and less of a fad. I want to learn about healthy eating and exercise and loose the weight permanently.

I'm getting married in march and I am desperate to loose 3.5st by then. This averages at 1.75lbs a week! So it could be doable!

I'm using mfp and my calories are set to 1200. I'm going to start exercising and using my polar hrm to monitor an accurate burn. But I'm unsure of whether to eat these cals back?

Today I've eaten 1297cals and burnt 890 for 1 hour of Zumba (this is mfp estimation which I'm sure is too high - my hrm isn't here yet!).

Any advice/tips/friendly hello would be much appreciated!!!

Xx

Hey I use myfitnesspal but don't actually do zumba.. Just typed it into it to see.. I got 435 calories which still seems abit high to me!! I do body attack which count as high impact aerobics I get 346 calories.. How you can get more for zumba than body attack I don't know!! :p
I have done zumba before but haven't felt the work out was as intense as body attack or spin.. With any estimated calorie burn take it with a pinch of salt!! Don't eat back all your excersize calories!! If you feel hungry use some of them though by all means ;)
I am maintaining I have been for a while now without excersize myfitnesspal tells me I need 1830.. With the amount of excersize I do I will sometimes go over 2000 calories.. If I feel I need them or if it is worth it!! I.E.. A boozy night out!! :p Sometimes I can even lose over night after 2 hours in the gym and 2000 calories!! In which case I will bump up my food if I feel am heading too low!! It's funny am still obsessed by calories now to maintain though.. Even at maintenance it was a battle initially to steady my weight.. Good luck on your journey hope you don't mind me popping in to sub :)

Hello!

Your approach and goal date are very similar to mine! I've just started a few days ago. My 30th birthday is in March :sigh: and is my goal date. I'm at 1600 calories/day and using my polar hrm as well (aiming for 1 hour of exercise a day). I was planning on not eating back my exercise calories, but I've noticed I am netting a pretty low calorie total so I am no help there either. I am allowing 1,000 'treat' calories each week so maybe this is my way around it? I can let you know in a few weeks! I've also tried a few (more than a few I guess!) diets in the past and have lost. They did me no good in the long run though! I'm very determined this time, no diets-only calorie counts! :) Best of luck on starting your journey! I look forward to seeing how it goes!

Hi Thankyou for popping by. I'm guessing my cals for Zumba were higher bc of my weight! I think they always estimate too high! And that's why I've bought a hrm to get more accuracy. But again I know they are 100%

Ok so I can just eat into some of them if I'm hungry otherwise I can stick to my 1200?

How many cals did you have a day? Did you loose consistently depending on what you ate?

How much have you lost altogether - did it take long? I'm desperate to average that 1.75lbs a week. In order to get to goal by my wedding. But I'm very impatient and if I don't loss each week when I've been good I do get disheartened and a but meh! So I'm really hoping this will work!!! Xxxx

You sound very similar to me!!!

My polar hrm hasn't arrived yet but I'm very excited about it coming haha!! I'm not planning on eating my cal back. But as in only on 1200 a day it does mean my net can be quite low!!

I am allowing myself similar a meal off each week when we go out etx. But just a meal not a day or night. I'll track it. So I'm accountable but with no fear of what the cals will say. I just hope it won't slow the losses bc if it does I'll have to loose it. It's a very tight schedule!! X

The instructor at my Aerobics class bought a fitbit a few weeks ago and now everybody is getting one - so far I have resisted as I have a good pedometer which tracks steps, cals and kms but who knows when I will give in :D

Glad you seem so focused - well done.

I did stick to around 1200 calories maybe abit higher I started in August last year I went from 10st 8 (I am only 5ft 2 btw so don't carry weight well!) by October I reached 9st when I went to Thailand a month later I was 8st 8.. Am now 7st 10.. I went down to 7st 7 but think maintenance for me at just under 8st is about right for me..
I Was losing on average 2 sometimes 3 pounds a week.. The excersize allowed me to have a blow out now and again or go out for a boozy night and still lose ;)
Your target is easily doable ;)

Thanks for sharing!!!

Oh great. I don't know why but in my head eating anything but not going over 1200 cals and loosing seems bizarre. I'm so used to having to cut out something ie bread or carbs or sugar etc etc.

I really hope it works! It would make me bang on target for my wedding if I managed 1.75lba a week! X

It's funny in my head I think I shouldn't go over 1830 calories when really some days I should go up to at least 2000 otherwise I will still lose weight!! I think we get so much into that mind set of losing when it comes to maintaining it can be a struggle to steady weight and stay the same.. I think I have it sorted now tho I do tend to rein it in when I reach 8st and eat more if I feel I am going too low.. I went from not wanting to stand on the scale to jumping on the scale every morning!! Obsession or what!! And I am also still tracking on myfitnesspal.. I think the thing is if you have a night out dinner and a bottle of wine!! :p try not to beat yourself up too much just get straight back on it the next day ;)
Good luck hun you are going to look so fab in your wedding dress x

Thanks!

I'm a serial scale hopper too!! But I'm trying to get into the mentality of not paying too much attention until wi day!! Which will hopefully be 1.75lbs a week :) HOPEFULLY!!

Tantrum ahoy if not and I've been good hahahaha!!! Xx

Good to see you back :) I have a blue tooth HRM links with an app on my iPhone ..

Lol .. It's a Heart rate monitor that links with my iPhone via an app called spinning... It also links with the fitbit app too, which links back to the myfitnesspal app/ website

Is that any clearer or just more gobblygook ;)

Good to see you back :) I have a blue tooth HRM links with an app on my iPhone ..

It's nice to be back and feeling in control. I've gained ALOT back so need to get rid of it all again!!! Xx

I'm excited about my watch coming!! How sad is that!!! X

So I'm back on night shifts which is my danger zone!!! Binge city!

But I allowed myself 4 hero chocolates which took me to 1300 cals rather than 1200 but today I'm only at 1100 so I'm guessing it will balance out. But normally I'd have eaten until the TWO boxes were empty but the first box didn't even empty! But it was nice being able to allow myself the treat. I didn't feel deprived but completely in control :)

Definetely feeling less bloated which is unusual for totm and nights!

So looking forward to the results on Friday! Xx

Sounding good pet x

Thanks lex and thanks for the advice :)

So after a chat and advice from people. I'm finishing this week on 1200. Then sat I'll move up to 1300 (although sat may be higher as ok out for the evening!) and then a week later up to 1450!! Xx

Glad you are still feeling positive - move up from 1200 or you will not be able to move down. When I was at my largest weight a few years ago - 15.5. stones I started on 2000 and moved down from there.
