Counting those calories

Hello everyone! I'm a 29-year-old woman, 5ft 4in and weighing 12 stone 5lbs (173lbs) as of this morning. I lost a lot of weight a few years ago calorie counting but put it all back on again and more besides, so I'm trying to shift it now once and for all. My goal is about 10 and a half stone (147lbs) but just having my clothes fitting better will be nice too!

Here's my diary for today!

Breakfast: 1 slice healthy grain bread, soft boiled egg. Two cups of tea with l/f milk. (216 cals)

Lunch: 2 small rolls with ham, cheese and mayo. Two teas. (579 cals)

Snack: 2 Hobnob biscuits. (146 cals)

Dinner: Spag bol. (600 cals)

Total: 1541 cals

Exercise: Brisk 40-minute walk

Day 2!

I finished up in my job a few weeks ago and I've been around the house every day with no routine since then, which is an absolute nightmare for boredom eating! Would love to hear any advice people have for not snacking constantly throughout the day! I've loaded up my ipod and I'm going to go out for a really long walk now so hopefully that should keep me busy.

Also, had a big revelation this morning. I worked out my BMR using the calculator on this site and should be eating 1380 calories a day, BUT shouldn't be eating back my exercise calories - something I had been doing all along. Bit of a shock to realise I don't have all these extra calories to play around with, but hopefully it should spur on my weight loss a bit more to stick to just 1380 a day.

My diary for Day 2

Breakfast: Fruitopolis yoghurt and a small apple (145 cals)

Lunch: Homemade mushroom soup with porridge bread (203 cals)

Snacks: 2.5 Hobnob biscuits, 10 pringles, 3 teas with lf milk, rice krispie bar (438 cals)

Dinner: Roast chicken, steamed carrots, rice fusions packet, gravy (415 cals)

Total: 1201 cals

Exercise: 1 x 60-minute walk, 1 x 45-minute walk

My Aldi is a good walk away - never measured it but use up 5,000 steps so try and make it a daily visit.

Whilst I was in there today saw some new foods in the fridge section - bought a box of cooked noodles with endame and black beans with a coriander and chilli dressing ( 250 cals for the box) which I had with some salad. It was delicious and cost £1.49.

What will you be cooking - do you know before you get there?

Day 4 diary

Breakfast: 1 Weetabix with half a banana and l/f milk (177 cals)

Lunch: Grilled chicken wrap (333 cals)

Snacks: rice krispie bar, 3 mini rolls (450 cals)

Dinner: Impossible to count this one accurately as it was bits and pieces at cooking class - 3 small bruschettas, a spoon of penne arrabiata, couple of forkfulls of carbonara, slice of white bread (??? cals)

Exercise: 1 x 45-minute walk, 1 x 15-minute walk

Trying to remember what I ate over the last three days! I was down 1lb on Friday morning but then had three awful days so I didn't even bother getting on the scales today. Let's see...

Friday:
Slice of toast with butter
Grilled chicken wrap with a few chips
Pasta with a tomatoey sauce
Three beers
Two mini rolls

Saturday:
Slice of toast with butter
Half a pulled pork bap
Homemade pizza
Lots of beer and lots of peanut MnMs

Sunday:
Small roll with ham, cheese and coleslaw
Half a chocolate muffin
Roast chicken, couscous and gravy
Four slices of freshly baked bread with real butter
The remainder of the peanut MnMs
Six beers

So there's the reason I wasn't on the scales this morning! Ugh, so annoyed with myself, weekends are always my downfall. And today isn't going much better either because I'm hungover. Back to it properly tomorrow

Hello! Good diary, your doing well so far :) well done on the 2lb loss x

Hi everyone,
This is a nice friendly site isn't it!
I am 5'2 and weighed 10st 10lbs at start of diet on 29th May this year. I am calorie counting and now weigh 9 st. Hooray! I would like to get down past 9 as i haven't weighed that since 1994!
I aim for 1000 cal per day but I think that may be too low. However the weight has come off and i guess to maintain this weight I would add extra cals but not sure how many. Any advice?
