Hi all, I used to be a regular on Minimins under a different username a few years ago but can't remember my log in details so have re-registered :)

I am 24 and have a 13 month old daughter. I am a serial dieter and have always been overweight. Tried every diet going! My most successful was Cambridge a few years ago where I lost 3st and got down to 12 and a half stones and a size 14, but I gained 2 stone during pregnancy and would like to lose it again and some more. I am trying calorie counting for the first time using MFP as I find other diets too restrictive and this seems to suit me more as I don't feel like there's anything I can't have if I fancy it.

I started last Monday on a low carb diet and lost 3lb, but swapped to normal calorie counting on Friday so my official starting weight was 14st 8. My first goal is 13st as this is the weight where all of my lovely clothes hung up in the wardrobe actually fit me!!

Forgot to say I'm trying 1500 cals then will reduce if I feel the need to :)

Yesterday's food was:

Breakfast - Mushroom omelette inside a tortilla wrap with bbq sauce. Weird combo but good! Plus a pink lady apple (526 cals)

Lunch - Wholemeal pitta with mustard, gherkins, pastrami and pea shoots/baby leaves (209 calories)

Dinner - Mushroom stroganoff with rice (509 calories)

Snacks - 2 cups of coffee with milk and a 2 finger kitkat (133 calories)


Today:

Breakfast - Porridge made with almond milk and acacia honey and 2/3 of an apple (279 calories)

Lunch - Wholemeal pitta with mustard, gherkins, pastrami and pea shoots/baby leaves (209 calories)

Dinner - Moroccan chicken with cous cous (722 calories)

Will add snacks at the end of the day!

Got my first weigh in tomorrow. I can tell I've lost a few lb since starting low carb then swapping to cc as my winter coat wasn't as snug this morning :D

Today's menu:

Breakfast: Half an apple before going to play group, then porridge with almond milk and honey when I got back (307 cals)

Lunch: Not had anything yet as I'm not hungry. I did have another Apple earlier though because they need eating. May have a pitta with pastrami at some point.

Dinner: Homemade carrot, butternut squash and red lentil soup. Made with coconut milk so quite high in calories but tasty :) served with a naan bread (722 cals)

Ooh people are reading :D hello! Didn't end up having any lunch but my soup was really delicious. Leftovers for lunch tomorrow, I can't wait haha.
 
Thanks bex, I'm really surprised as I was worried that sticking to 1500 was too high. I've not felt like I've been on a diet this week so will definitely be sticking with calorie counting!
 
Just had my first weigh in and lost 3lb! So I'm now 14st 5 :D I'm so pleased.

Excellent! All of your meals sound yummy too. That's the good thing about calorie counting, not restricted and tasty meals, makes it much easier to contend with :)

I did Cambridge for a while too but didn't like the taste of the packs.

Anyway, I've subbed to your diary too :-D x

Thanks everyone :) I've been quiet this weekend as really busy!

Tink its a bbc good food recipe. http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1898646/mushroom-stroganoff hopefully the link works. It's really simple but very nice!! My partner loved it so much he's requested it again this week :D

Today's food has been:

Breakfast - Apple (wasn't very hungry this morning. 81 cals)

Lunch - Chicken noodles (260 cals)

Dinner - Indian sweet potato and dhal pie, served with a wholemeal pitta bread and raitha (777 cals)
 
Food yesterday was:

Breakfast - Pineapple pieces
Lunch - Mushroom pasta & sauce packet (was waiting for my shopping delivery and raided the cupboard!)
Dinner - Mushroom stroganoff with brown rice

Also had 3 coffees and a tiny slice of homemade Christmas cake which needs eating :D

Total cals 1410.

Stupidly went on the scales this morning and I'm 1lb heavier :(
 
food looks good for yesterday :)

I've managed to stay off the scales all week after last week's disappointment. ... weigh day is tomorrow and I have absolutely no idea if it's going to be good or bad! !!!!
 
I'm terrible for hopping on the scales every couple of days. I know you shouldn't but I can't resist! I need to stop doing it.

I was at the point where I was daily weighing. ... which was fine when I was sts or going down. ... But then last week I was 3lbs the day before official weigh day and only 1.5lbs down on weigh day. ...I was gutted. .. even with a loss so I've stopped myself from doing it this week :)
 
I'm going to stop now! It's a habit I need to get out of. I'm away this weekend so won't have scales from Friday night until Monday night so I'll have to go cold turkey haha.

I've eaten a lot better today:

Breakfast: banana, oat, almond milk and yoghurt smoothie (346 cals)

Lunch: Wholemeal pitta with mustard, cucumber, baby leaves, gherkins and pastrami (212 cals)

Dinner: salmon marinated in soy, ginger, onion, honey and garlic with stir fried veg and noodles (673 cals)

Also 4 coffees and a glass of cordial (90 cals)

Total 1321 cals.
