This time I WILL succeed

Hello,

I've just been reading through some of your diaries on here and I thought I'd try to keep one myself.

I've dipped in and out of calorie counting over the last year or 2 but find life gets in the way or as I'm realising I allow things to become an excuse. But this time I'm determined to be wearing all those lovely clothes in my wardrobe that are too tight by the summer

I'm tracking calories using MFP and adding exercise to my evenings. I have tried exercising every evening for 3 weeks now and I think this is unrealistic for me so before I give up I'm changing to every other evening. I have 2 children (7 and 3) and a full time job so maybe I need to be more realistic and not set myself up to fail.

Anyway, I'm finding this site a great help so far and looking forward to getting to know people on here and pick up so much needed tips along the way :D

I know what you mean about pulling in exercise every day. ... I'm aiming for 30 minutes a day ... With a full time job and a 7 year old though it can be difficult so I can imagine with the 3 year old too it can be almost impossible! anything you can manage is a bonus though. ... even if it is a walk at lunch or taking the kids to the park x

Thanks Becky :) I'm definitely going by the thought anything is a bonus and better than I was doing before x

It's weigh in day and I'm so pleased I've lost 1.5lb this week :D my aim is 1lb a week so I feel like I'm off to a great start which is keeping me motivated.

So far I'm not finding the diet too hard and I'm religiously updating MFP even on a bad day - I gave myself a night off last Saturday to enjoy a meal and a few drinks with my hubby. I'm exercising but not eating the calories so I'm thinking in the long run this will even out the odd relaxed day.

Today I'm going to be extra good at work because tonight the kids are off to my parents for a sleepover  we were going to go out for a meal but the post Xmas finances won't allow it. Instead we're going to have a romantic meal at home :candledinner:

It's a bit of trial and error with the diet trying to find a way that fits in with my life and something I can maintain WHEN I hit my goal and so far so good

Well done on your loss, I think the main thing is to enjoy it and allow yourself the occasional treat. .. After all if this is going to work long term it needs to just become normal instead of a diet x

What was I thinking this weekend  it's like I was possessed! I gave myself a pass Friday evening after being good all day and having a week til weigh in etc I thought what's the harm. Well the harm is when I start eating the wrong foods I think oh well I've ruined it now I might as well carry on and ate poorly Saturday and Sunday  Well I only have myself to blame and I'm sure I'll regret it by Friday when I weigh.

But today is a new day, I'm not going to let a weekend blip ruin the whole thing. I've packed a sensible lunch and hopefully a positive day will get me on track.

Oh and I popped to Argos on Saturday and bought a trampette with my xmas money, it'll be something to add to the exercise regime and keep it varied. My kids are loving having a go on it as well lol x

oh no, don't dwell on it, back on the wagon today and if you don't lose this week then take it as a lesson learned for future!

I'm seriously thinking about trying the 5:2 diet but I'm not sure yet because I'm not sure if I could manage 500 cals it just seems tiny. I finally got round to watching the first episode of "what diet is right for you" last night and it was such a good program. I think I fall into the category of constant craver and the diet they recommend is intermittent fasting because for this group dieting 7 days a week is very difficult. I really identified with things they were saying and I'm thinking of giving it a go. I need to plan ahead and give it some thought on what I would eat on the fasting days etc.

While I'm thinking I'll watch the next 2 episodes and see how the rest of the experiment goes.

I've got a cold today, I started feeling rough last night hopefully it'll shift quickly because I need to get back to my exercise and knowing me I'll use it as an excuse to eat!!

I'm on a fast day today. ... Have managed to avoid food so far as been busy in meetings ... I have a decent sized lunch and then will have porridge to fill me up tonight. ... I'm aiming to end the day somewhere between 500-600.... Will probably go bed early to stop from snacking. ... But I know it's only for today and u can eat normally tomorrow. ...

When I've tried this in the past I've binged on my eating days but I will continue with my diet as normal on non fast days so I still benefit from it :)

Hi you are doing well especially being so busy its quite good being busy at work keep your mind off it.

Easier said then done but on your relax days try having a quick count of your daily calories just to do a log i find it stops me thinking i have ruined it and dont go on to have big supper then roll it over to next day ha ha as i think i have 1200 a day but even on a relax day i dont go far over 2000/2500 which isnt too much more then recommend allowance and keeps me on track.

Well done on your fast day does seem easier then thinking of dieting every day im yet to try! X
