Isabella's journey (taking the scenic route) to 9 stone

Hi Everyone,

I decided to start a new diary because I like reading other people's and I've realized I keep forgetting to log a couple of my food items each day and the calories will add up!

9 months ago I was 13 st 5, now I'm 10st 13.5 and I'd love to be around 9 stone and a size 10.

Oh also I have issues with binge-eating and find it very hard to get through a week without a binge and my calorie intake is usually quite high but I try to make up for it by exercising.

Bella xx

Hey Bella oh please post often as I'd like to be as successful as you were my goal is to be 10.7 lbs how did you lose the Weight before?

Xx

Hi Honey-J,

I like your positive signature! is your goal 19th August for a special event?

I've been losing the weight by Calorie Counting although I lost about half a stone with Slimming World to begin with. My weight had stayed around 12-13 stone for a few years until now so I'm feeling quite happy to finally be getting there but also a bit scared that I'll fall into binge mode and gain again (I can lose and put on weight quite quickly).

I used a BMR calculator to work out the exact calories that I need per day and then deducted 500 cals per day for a 1lb loss week and 1000 cals for 2lb loss week!

How are you getting on? Is the 5:2 going well?

Hey Bella im going to Mexico with friends in August this has got to be a slimmer holiday for me this year. Last year I went to New York fat and came back even fatter. So counting calories is all new to me , i start 5:2 tomorrow which I can't wait for now. 3 stones by August do you think I can do this?

Im starting PT training on Monday exercising 3 evenings a week. Xx

Definitely! It's really good to have something to work towards and Mexico sounds pretty exciting! Tbh if I ever go to New York I have every intention of eating my weight in doughnuts, pancakes and general junk too- I've never been to America but have family over there who say the portion sizes in restaurants are massive.

If you set mini goals each week and do exercise that you love on your non-fasting days it should definitely be doable! Have you had personal training sessions before? I really like running so I just try to fit 15-40 mins in each day but I've got a new exercise bike so going to see if that helps my weight loss once I've put it up! (I have no DIY skills!).

How's it going this week?

Ended up bingeing yesterday- had 3 iced cupcakes, a nesquik shake, a galaxy ripple, a crunchie, a few handfuls of marshmallows etc etc.!

Today I've tried my best to avoid bingeing but still eaten a lot!

Breakfast: Yoghurt and toast
Lunch: Leak and potato soup. Smoked salmon & salad tortilla.
Dinner: Haddock, oven chips, peas, carrots, broccoli

Also went out for coffee and cake so had a skimmed milk cappuccino and a bit less than half of a piece of carrot cake- was yummy!

This evening I've had cinnamon tea but will probably have some chocolate too.

I ran for 32 mins, walked for an hour and popped into town so did a bit of exercise :)

Personal training is really good I've missed 2 sessions due to valentines weekend going back tomorrow night.

Im going to 5:2 and calorie counting being really strict till the end of the month. I'm being lazy atm
your meals are nice I need to cook more. Are you doing weight watchers points system now?

I will start another diary this week and let you know. :D Hoping your ok x

Hi Honey-J,

That sounds like a good plan- how many calories do you have on feast days? I'm considering doing 5:2 to speed it up a bit. I've been quite bad for a week and binged 3 times! (the Very Hungry Caterpillar and I have a lot in common). Today I've been quite good, I've only really calculated a rough estimate of my calories using the old Weight Watchers points (pre-propoints).

Today's food:
Breakfast: Boiled egg on wholemeal toast. Glass of mango smoothie. 300 cals ish!
Lunch: Smoked salmon (again!) on toast with a bowl of carrot soup. 300 cals (will work out exact cals in a min!)
Snack: Red grapes and a cup of black coffee. (75 cals)
Dinner: Four pieces of scampi with asparagus, carrots, broccoli (no carbs to leave room for pancake carb-fest) (need to check, think scampi= 240 cals + low cal veg).
Dessert: Pancakes!!! (just about to make in a minute, we have nutella, cadbury's spread, syrup, sugar'n'lemons, ice cream, marshmallows, but I'm going to try to avoid having yet another binge. The pancakes will only be about 70 cals but a teaspoon of nutella is about 85cals!).

How are you? did you have a nice weekend? Looking forward to reading your diary for inspiration!

xx

ps. ha, just noticed a typo- wrote 'via rather than vie' and had to go back and change it!!

Since Monday I've lost 4 lbs already. im so chuffed I've drank so much water and kept away from bread. I'm going to fast tomorrow on 500 kcals.

You ate ate a lovely range of foods yesterday. When do you weigh in??

Yes ive started a diary this morning xx

Wow, so jealous! 4lbs is brilliant. What do you usually eat on fast days?

I'm definitely going to give 5:2 a try in a couple of weeks (it's my birthday a fortnight today so I'll probably start the day after!); I was thinking porridge, soup and salads for fast days? Also I was looking at the 5:2 site and it says that 500 cals for women is based on a quarter of the RDA 2000 cals per day but I'm thinking about doing 600 cals because my TDEE is closer to 2500.

I have been weighing daily and recording it on Mondays but with so much binge-eating I've stayed the same for a week now, which is a feat in itself considering binge days are over 3000 calories. I'm really going to try to stick to 1400-1500 calories today and I'm hoping to go for a slightly longer run.

How is your day going?

Today's food
Breakfast: Boiled egg with wholemeal toast and orange juice.
Lunch: urrm well had a teaspoon of peanut butter and some smoothie
Dinner: veg burger, bun, onion rings, salad (again!)
Dessert: cherry pie (not my fault, someone handed it to me against my wishes and then it got eaten!)

Your pancake toppings sounded amazing!!! I was surprised how few cals pancakes have.... problem is what we put on them, no one has it completely plain do they!!

They were delicious! and massively high in calories once coated in chocolate and sugar- I planned to have two pancakes with a little bit of topping but ended up having five! so I had a 'stay-the-same' day yesterday, which is better than a full-on binge anyway! My major issue at the moment is with sweet food, I wish I could stop snacking and just stick to three meals and a dessert each day.

How was your day diet-wise?

Well done on having a sts day rather than a blow out day!

I can be the same with the sweet stuff, so I try to avoid it until 8/9 pm (apart from a bit of fruit) - helps to know that it is coming though! I am used to it now so I don't really think of having anything sweet, other than fruit, during the day now. If I really want something I've got some mini smoothie lollies that hit the spot.

Hi I'm having 500 kcals & enjoying 2000 on eating days. X

Hi Zeke,

That's a good idea, I might start doing that from tomorrow and only eat chocolate/sweets at 9pm. Earlier I had half a Millionaire's shortbread (about 150 cals) but I accidentally skipped breakfast so I'm still on track.
Food
We're having Spaghetti Carbonara for dinner, made without cream or extras, I might make mine with Quorn bacon/Facon instead to save a few cals (I was vegetarian from 13 until earlier this year but now I eat red meat/chicken once a fortnight and get through quite a lot of fish, eggs and cheese the rest of the time.

Today's food
Breakfast: Black coffee with a teaspoon of sugar (30cals)
Lunch: Fresh vegetable soup- 120 cals
Wholemeal bread- 90 cals
sardines- 120 cals
Snack: millionaires shortbread (150 cals) and a mug of highlights hot choc (40cals)
Dinner: Carbonnara

Exercise
I did try to go running but gave up because it was raining a lot and I hate it when cars go past and splash dirty puddles on me! I walked for about 20-30 mins with maybe 5-10 mins of running and then had a nice warm shower and a cup of tea. Actually I think this is the first Rest day I've had in a couple of weeks so it's quite nice esp. as my heart rate when running has hopped up to 207bpm recently so I've been quite exhausted afterwards.

I might go on the exercise bike for a little bit later on and hope to go for an evening 'constitutional' :). I think because I eat so much I feel I have to exercise it off but hopefully I can start eating and exercising a little less.

I'm not managing to stick to calories very well at the moment!

Breakfast: A quarter of a baguette with flora and jam
Lunch: Salmon sandwich and vegetable soup.
Snack: ooh dear- choc spread sandwich
Dinner: Chicken, vegetables and new potatoes

I'm quite stressed out at the moment but want to regain control of my eating as soon as I can. Someone else suggested started to eat healthily from my next meal so I think I'll try that but my brother and his girlfriend are coming over in a bit and we might have chocolate cake unless I can resist it!. It's 12 days until my birthday so ideally I'd like to lose 2-3lbs by then.

I went for a short but high-intensity run today (20 mins but my heart rate peaked at 214 at one point) and have done a little bit of indoor cycling.

Cadbury's Highlights drinks are my lifesaver - I have 2 sometimes 3 every day plus mixed fruit tea from Aldi (a lot stronger than any others I have bought).
I am veggie as I really like eggs and cheese - could be vegan if it wasn't for those. :)

I have a link to Linda Sansone walk at home DVD's for the days when it is too rainy to go out - I enjoy doing them. All free on youtube - pick the ones that have the time next to them as some as just tasters. I like the 1 mile express for when I have 15 mins to spare. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=linda+sansone+1+mile - put her name in youtube and losts will come up.
