The 5:2 Diet - My Feasting and Fasting Diary!

So, for those who don't already know me. I'm Stevie, and I've been struggling with my weight / diet a lot over the last 9 months or so. Well I've struggled with it for years, but what I mean is that since around May 2014 I have fallen off the bandwagon - and have struggled to climb back (and stay!) aboard.

I had previously lost over 4st with Slimming World, going from 15st down to 10st 10lb. Then, for some insane reason I began self-sabotaging and pushing myself further and further away from my 9st target. Anyway, 9 months down the line I am now (as of WI yesterday) back up to 13st 1lb. I have chopped and changed a lot between plans (Slimming World and 5:2) lately, and have finally come to the conclusion that I need the freedom of 5:2 but with the fresh, nutritious and healthy meals SW encourages - rather than eating lots of processed stuff like I did with my first stint on 5:2.

I had great success with 5:2 in the run up to Christmas 2014, and lost about 1st 7lb in 6-7 weeks. So I am hoping for some similar results in the build up to my holiday in September 2015 (we've just booked a two week All-Inclusive break to Fuerteventura)!

I'm going to use this diary to track my daily eats and also my weight loss progress - and I will start with a catch-up post with yesterdays food...

Morning diary, happy hump day! Although I keep waking up thinking I'm a day ahead of myself - yesterday morning I thought it was Wednesday and today I thought it was Thursday. It's going to be a long week lol!

I feel really good after yesterdays Fast and I was really proud of myself throughout the day. I felt I planned things really well and made great choices which kept me within the 500cal allowance. I even resisted the most gorgeous looking (and smelling!) wood fired mozzarella and sun dried tomato pizza that my mam and dad were having for tea - with full fat coleslaw!! Normally seeing / smelling that on a Fast day would be absolute torture for me, but yesterday it didn't even phase me. I'm thinking of that holiday in September and how I want to look in my bikinis - great motivation at the moment!

Warren and I also decided on what we're doing for Valentine's Day last night. We're not doing anything too over the top, as we've already bought each other presents, but we've decided to go through to Darlington (the next town from us, so easy to reach by taxi / lift) and have a meal at Pizza Express. They've actually got a really good offer on for VD - three courses plus a glass of Pinot Grigio Blush for £19.95! I've already run that through MyFitnessPal for Saturday so I know how many cals it will take up and how many I'll have remaining. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail! We'll go out for a few drinks afterwards and then come back home to Warren's for the night. Really looking forward to it and happy that I can enjoy what will be a real treat, whilst still staying within my allowance.

So, today will be a Feast day before tomorrow - the second Fast of the week. It'll be nice to get them over and done with and then relax a little and enjoy the weekend!

This is how today is looking. Have a great Wednesday everyone! x

I am exactly the same! I'm probably going to Fast most of the day so I can enjoy my three course meal in the evening. And still have calories leftover for a few drinks afterwards. Love the flexibility of 5:2! x

Here to subscribe hun. I'm at 11.2 at the moment and target feels like so far away...I would give anything to be back at my lowest of 9.13! Sounds like you're in a good place at the mo - looking forward to watching your journey and hopefully joining you on the path to target! xx

Thank you for joining me lovely. I just kind of sneaked out of my SW diary as I thought everyone would be sick of seeing me chop and change and wouldn't really be interested anymore. I've been useless lately but, like you said, I feel in a much better place at the moment! I think having our holiday booked is definitely the motivation I've been lacking. Thanks again for finding me xx

You can't get away from us that easily! I feel like the lovely girls on my diary should give up on me but they haven't. I love reading your diary - you are a huge inspiration - I'm definitely not going anywhere :D xx

Your dinner sounds lovely, and only 280cals? yum.
You doing anything special for Valentines? xx

It's so nice! Considering it's a ready meal, it's nothing like you'd expect. To me it's like a "proper" chicken dinner.

We're going to have a nice lie in and a bit of a lazy day on Valentine's day. Swap presents and have a bit of a chill day, and then on the night we're heading to Pizza Express for a meal and out for a few drinks afterwards. And then I'll be stopping at Warren's as I usually do on a weekend. How about you, have you got anything nice planned? :) xx

Ooh sounds lovely, enjoy! I've never been to Pizza Express, am I missing out?!
We're just going to order a takeaway and watch a few films, just like a usual Sat night for us really xx

That sounds lovely! I love a cosy night in with a takeaway and films, we do that most weekends too.

Pizza Express is lovely! It's quite pricey but I subscribe to their newsletters and they're always sending out codes for discounts and stuff which makes it a lot more reasonable. It's also great for us as Warren loves pizza and can stuff his face with whatever he fancies lol! But then for me, they do great lower calorie choices - which don't feel 'diety' at all. It'll be a nice change from our usual Nando's anyway lol! Xx
