    The last stone?

Is anyone else struggling with the last stone? In September I started calorie controlling and went from 14st2lbs to 11st6lbs by December. Then jan I gave up smoking kind of went of track and finding it much much harder getting back on track to lose the last stone as I am now 11st11lbs and my goal would be 10st10. Anyone else finding it hard? X

Smoking increases your metabolism so it will have slowed down when you quit the fags (well done btw). Just keep going, do a bit more exercise and it should shift xx

It definitely gets harder! I'd like to get another stone off, but it's such slow going now - I think it's very common to struggle at the end. Just think of how far you've come and keep plugging away at it - it may come off slowly, but it'll happen. How many cals are you eating? xx

1,600 for me at the moment - following the advice of not eating below BMR. I may reduce it a bit if I don't have any luck. xx

Same, I think there's not that sense of urgency or newness anymore. You know you can do it... so you don't! I think I need to start writing a food diary again, that's good for focusing your thoughts.

Hi Lumlum, I TOTALLY see where you are coming from. I have about 10 lbs to go and I am finding it really really hard.

Exercise definitely helps with changing your body shape which is actually more important as you get lighter. Helping to tone rather than beginning to look scrawny.

I think once you have lost a few stone and are a noticeable difference to your starting point, it can be easy to get a bit complacent... people compliment you and tell you how well you have done and you just begin to get a bit lethargic with cal counting or dieting or whatever, its hard to keep motivation up especially since it becomes a lot harder to "see" the losses when you are down to the last stone.

I have found taking time out actually helps in two ways: a) it gives you a motivation boost rather than healthy eating feeling like a chore and b) I've found if I have a few days or even a week off strict counting it seems to give my metabolism a little reset.

I am really struggling to get back into the swing of things but I think this time of year is perfect for the final push. The sun has come out, summer is in our sights but far enough away that we can feasibly get to exactly where we want to be in time.

Set yourself some mini goals, try and do a week of hardcore healthy/clean eating to get you back in the zone/mindset.

    Good luck!
