Advice please!

Hi Everyone,
Have lost 2 stone on SW following the extra easy plan but have hit a real plateau. Have been losing and gaining the same 6lbs over the last 6 months so decided to try calorie counting to kick start my losses again.

Ive started using mfp which has calculated my allowance to 1200 kcals a day. This seems doable however my question is about exercise.

On SW you dont get extra syns for exercise but I noticed on mfp if you burn calories in the gym it adds these onto your allowance.
Do most people eat these extra calories for exercise or not?

I didn't before as I was on about 1500 cals a day at my heaviest (17stone) now I only have 1and half stone left I've reduced my cals to 1200 but eat up to 300 cals more depending on my exercise. I burn around 500 cals in the gym so depending on how hungry I am I eat up to 1500 cals x

My losses were pants when I didn't have a few extra calories when I worked out x

Exact same boat as you, are you still going to sw though? Sick of the plateau! Have been cc'ing 2 weeks on 1200 a day and have lost the predicted 2lbs a wk each week! You will do great I am sure. I don't do any exercise whatso ever so no extra cals for me unfort. If you are doing that exercise though you must eat more. Good luck love!! Xx
 
Well a week of calorie counting using mfp (plus a cheat day) has left me 5 lbs lighter!! Very happy Indeed. Not expecting to lose anywhere near that on a weekly basis but will be happy with 1-2lbs a week.

What kind of things are you eating on your calorie counting?

I think thats a very good idea! Stick to slimming world principles but flexibilty of calorie counting. Aslong as we stick to that structure I think its a fab idea :) and obvilously works too! X

How u finding calorie counting now as opposed to slimming world. How many calories are u having if u don't mind me asking xx
 
I've swapped back to SW as I was often hungry, having 1200 cals a day and making bad choices such as chosing chocolate or crisps over fruit.

But choosing to have calories on bad foods as opposed to healthy low fat and fruits is a choice x Calorie counting works but u need to commit properly just like u will commit to slimming world :) I hope it truly works for u! Fingers crossed we all reach our targets shooooon!!!!!:)

Good luck to you too hun. I know it's all about choices, I don't think I have the will power for calorie counting although I did find it very effective.

Ur right hun it is all about what suits the individual and their lifestyle! Im doing a mix and match between calorie counting and slimming world on specific weeks . Lol seems to be working for me! Just overall idea is to control portion and eat healthy! =) i struggle with my water intake and lots of fruit n veg i must start that though too!

Definitely echo what others have said it is all about yourlifestyle and what suits you. If SW works for you go for it. Wish you all the best on your weight loss journey whatever you decide :)
