Cant lose weight this time!

I have been on my diet now since the 1st of January. I have previously lost over 2.5 stone with the exact same diet and exercise regime.
But for some reason it seems to be doing nothing this time!

I lost a few pounds in January, or at least I thought I did. Sometimes the scale says that im up and around the same weight I was starting off and then other times says im down to the weight I think that ive reached. So i probably have lost nothing other than a bit of water weight.

This is very very confusing and frustrating for me because I had great success with the exact same plan 2 years ago but after 1.5 months it simply is having 0 effect on me. I exercise every day, cardio and weights, i drink a tonne of water, I dont skip meals, I log my calories, I have very low amounts of sodium. I just cant figure it out!

Is there anyone out there that can help me or give me advice?

Do you log your calories in my fitness pal?

ahh ok, I was going to say I'd have a look at your food log to see if I could offer any advice.

Have you got a good diary on here? x

nope don't have a diary on here.

The most confusing thing is that it's an identical eating plan to the one I used before, and I lost 2.5 stone last time. Theres not a single thing different.. so it makes no sense

That's frustrating, our bodies can be total nutcases sometimes. Have you tried taking all your body measurements to see if you are losing inches? You might be converting your fat to muscle so your weight isn't changing but your body might be x

I have noticed a slight change in body shape but nothing really major. Also last time I lost weight I saw differences in body shape as well as on the scales

My weight loss is verrrrry slow because I've got an underactive thyroid and was only diagnosed in December - I had heaps of different symptoms which I never realised were related to this - it took many blood tests and visits to the doctors until they finally worked out what was wrong with me. I used to do Slimming World a few years ago and could lose a lot more each week than I am now but back then I didnt have thyroid problems.

Anyway I'm not trying to suggest you have hypothyroidism but what I'm trying to say is - our bodies are constantly changing and evolving - we can’t assume what worked a previously will work just as well a second time round. So many factors play a part in how our metabolism works such as taking medication, our age, water consumption and also emotional factors like stress etc.

Thanks for the advice and calming words. Im sorry to hear you have an underactive thyroid, it's something ive feared myself in the past but best of luck with your journey!

As for myself I don't have much choice but to just keep trying my best and hope I see results. Ive decided to only do monthly weigh ins from now on to help myself be more focused.

Finally, after the most draining and long weight loss plateau I thought I would ever experience, I have FINALLY started to lose again.
Over 3 months I was stuck on a plateau, and although it was the most frustrating thing in the world, I never gave up and am now more confident than ever that I am in this for the long haul.

Glad to be back amongst the weight losers! :)

I know just how you feel, I used to be able to lose weight on a low carb diet but now, it just does not work for me. Now that I'm counting calories a little weight has come off but I know it is going to be a long journey. I read somewhere, that over forty-five it becomes much harder to lose weight - lol - I can vouch for the truth of that!!

Onwards & downwards - I hope!
