quick question about Bars - any advice?

    Hey all x

I've only got 12lbs to lose now until I'm at my healthy weight of 10 stone 4 so my CDC and I decided that I could start moving up a bit. I am now having 1 bar a day for breakfast and 2 shakes (instead of the 3 shakes). I was told to drink at least an extra pint of water if I'm having the bars as they are more concentrated - which I'm doing

I have read a couple of threads about weight loss slowing down alot once people are going onto bars - is this true? I think I'm just worried because If my weight slows right down on the bars, imagine how it would be when I eventually start having the small evening meal etc?

I was just wondering if anyone could let me know and maybe share your experiences on the bars?

    Thank you

    Jess xxx

Hi I wouldn't worry, everyone is different. Try them for a week or two and see how you get on. I've been having 1 a day for two weeks now and have been v happy with my losses.
    Week 1 = - 8.5lbs
    Week 2 = - 2.75lbs
    Week 3 = - 5lbs
    Week 4 = - 4.5lbs
    Week 5 = - 2.5lbs
    Week 6 = +1.5lbs

    -----------------------------
    18/01/2012 - Back to square 1!

    25/01/2012 = - 2.75lbs
    01/02/2012 = - 3.75lbs

Yeah I can see that - Well done Yeah I think I'll see how it goes for two weeks and If I'm not that happy then I can always have one every other day instead of every day (rather not do that because I want to start working towards maintenance in a month or two) Thanks for the advice.

I'll let you know how I get on when I get weighed next Monday!

    Thank you and well done,

    Hi hon,

I've had a few a week for the last few weeks, and it's been fine. If you're worried, I would stick to the peanut: it's yummy, and has fewer carbs than the other ones, I'm told it is less likely to interfere with things.
At the end of the day, the bars are considered interchangeable with the other packs, the only difference being it's only one a day, or at least that's how my CDC explained it. She certainly doesn't see the bars as 'moving up'.
Mind you, I've only been having a few a week, not every day. I'm going to be having more this week, so I'll let you know whether it does have an impact.

    Hi Jess

The bars are only one a day as the chewy ones (toffee, orange etc) have around 25gr carbs in them which can knock some people out of ketosis, and they can make you windypops too! The bars also have around 30 more calories each compared with the sachets/tetras.

However as Letty said the peanut bars have fewer carbs (around the same as the sachets/tetras), as does the cranberry bar. Cranberry also has fewer calories than all the other bars (around 20cals less than the others - it all adds up!)

Your aim must be to have power over food, not the scales.

I forgot my shaker today and had 2 peanut bars today, whoops but otherwise I would have gone for 9 hours without food. Doesn't knock me out of ketosis but I won't make a habit out of it. They are scrummy though!

I have had a bar a day since week 3 and I am really happy with my losses! I dont think overall they really can affect your weight loss too much otherwise why would they be a CD product? Plus, the peanut crunch are scrummo, I look forward to it with a coffee for lunch everyday!

I've gone onto a bar a day this week and I have to say that this has been the hardest week for me so far. Maybe it has something to do with biting and chewing, maybe it is to do with extra stress and activity with moving house, I don't know but I have so struggled with hunger that next week I will stay with shakes and give the bars a wide berth. Has anyone else had a problem like this? My poor daughter Jess has had to put up with some negativity from me this week, she has been the parent, bless her xxx

    Hello

I have been having the bars for a couple of weeks now and dont think they have slowed down weight loss.

They are nice and i have 3/4 a week rather than every day. You def need the extra water as they make you thirsty and i have been more prone to constipation since eating them too so the extra water is a def yes! lol

As above the peanut is lower in carbs as is the Cranberry that the others but i love the chocolate and the choc/orange. Def a nice treat.

Also i eat mine for lunch rather than tea/evening as i just think i am more active during the day so will burn it off more than if i eat a bar in the evening if you see what i mean.

    Good luck

I have a bar every day for lunch and love them, they make such a difference. First time I waited until week three, but when I restarted after my holiday I started having bars straight away, and lost 7lbs that week. I haven't found they affect my loss at all.
    Enjoy!
