Smile Why CD is possibly the best diet option going

I know many people who have tried diet after diet - including myself and my mum (before CD) who just cannot shift their excess weight. This is the diet that CAN.

Since CD, I have learnt alot about food and what we should/shouldn't put in our bodies, and also what we should eat ONLY in moderation or once every now and again.

There's quite an overweight woman at work who is on weight watchers - lovely lady. She has been on it now for about 4 weeks and I think in total only lost about 8.5 lbs. I think the 2nd week she put on and the 4th week stayed the same. The thing is, and I don't know much about WW (i know it's done in points) but when she wants a cookie - she'll have one etc etc, she'd probably be allowed because of the points but because I'm on CD, I know that putting carbs in your body (cookie) isn't going to help right?

She has done CD and LL before and shifted 4 stone in just a couple of months, but she has put all of it back on and more (from what she told me) so just to prove that CD DOES work and if anything, it completely beats all the other diets out there.

I'm so happy that I found CD (thanks to my mum! ) otherwise I'd still be fat, eating shed loads, be unhappy and still searching for a way to lose it feeling like it's the most impossible thing ever.

The point I'm trying to make is CD does work and believe if you can stay focused it could be the right option for every overweight person out there.

so well done to everyone who has chosen to go on a CD journey xxx because you CAN do it xx

Another motivational thread from you this morning Mrs L! I've tried WW before and, similar to your colleague, I lost 4 pound the first week then put on half a pound the second and stayed the same the third week. If someone says to me "you can eat a chocolate bar but you have to point it up" then they may as well say "go ahead and eat a box of chocolates" My problem has been that I can't eat things in moderation, its all or nothing. So CD has been perfect for me... The best way I can describe it is that I feel that I have "reset" my eating habits - I no longer crave fatty food, or chocolate, and I know that my body needs food as fuel rather than something that just tastes nice. I am coming to the end of my CD SS journey having lost almost 2 stone after 8 weeks on the diet. I've got another stone to go before I reach my target weight of 10 stone, but I know that with some determination I can do it and feel confident that I will maintain afterwards as I "know" what food my body needs rather than wants.
Good luck everyone, and happy Thursday!!! Lisa xx

    Great post....but......

The thing is, and I don't know much about WW (i know it's done in points) but when she wants a cookie - she'll have one etc etc, she'd probably be allowed because of the points but because I'm on CD, I know that putting carbs in your body (cookie) isn't going to help right?
The thing is that CD isn't for everyone - and as much as you're right having a cookie probably isn't going to help her weight loss, some people want to find a way to lose weight by finding a plan thats sustainable, that they can eat that way forever and not feel deprived. Yes this lady would definately lose weight faster if she didn't have those 'treats' or started cd, but then if she didn't have those things she may not be able to stick to it at all and therefore wouldn't be losing any weight. Any change to the diet that helps shift the pounds is surely worth it - whether losing 13lbs in your first week of CD or losing 1lb on your first week of ww or slimming world.

Which diet is right for you is a very personal thing - and while a completely agree with everyone that CD is a GREAT diet to go on - not everyone can stick to such a restrictive plan.

It's true that CD can be tough - your head needs to be in the right place for it! Like you, Mrs L, I am just about evangelical about CD - it has changed my life when nothing else could and I'd love to be able to do what Lelly is doing & be a CDC because I do feel it's brilliant and fab and life-changing.

But Rayven, you are right, CD is not for everyone... it's a diet that makes it very hard to eat with friends & family, so if that is important to you it may not be the right choice. For some people WW & SW do work - SW worked for me in the past, but again there was always the message that you could have a 'little bit' of choc or whatever if you wanted it. And for me, there has never been such a thing as a 'little bit' where choc is concerned... a break from food sounded crazy when I first looked into CD but it gave me the space to change my life. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Oh i'd definately recommend it - people tend to look at you like you're crazy when you say you're not eating anything at all though! I'm not entirely convinced i'm in the right head space at the mo to be honest - so Mrs L and Katycakes you're gonna have to keep kicking me up the back side and reminding me how good this diet is! lol

Think hugs work better than kicks, but if you insist.... ((KICK))

You can do this Rayven... whatever is happening in your life, a points-counted cookie won't solve it, right? Get on track again and you'll feel better and stronger, promise. You don't need us to tell you how good CD is - look at how brilliantly you have done so far!!! And there's lots of support on minis, always.

I lost 3 stone on Weight Watchers before and felt really good, but I put it all back on and then some. Once I have spent countless weeks eating nothing but drinking shakes and soups I will definately think twice about not regaining this weight ever..... I also started on WeightWatchers in January and lost 10lb, but it took over 2 months to do it and with CD I have lost 4lb in the first 5 days...

I am so happy that i found this diet. Its been a lot easier that i thought it would be, before when ive tried to lose weight i started with good intentions then the weekend would come and i would say to my self "i deserve a treat" then all would be lost. Now on CD just jumping on the scales or trying on my old cloths is treat enough.

Oh this diet is the best! Ive never been this light since I was a child! Like others, Ive tried other diets... but I need the strictness of CD. I need rules I can abide by and simple lists of what i can and cant have. "A little of everything in moderation" doesnt work for me, as one thing leads to another. Also as I sometimes can be working 14 hour days I simple dont have the time to prepare healthy meals all the time. I found before Id often get to work with no food with me, and end up pigging out at lunch on a big baguette and crisps ect. Now its easier to just pack the shakes each day so Im able to stick to it better.

Obviously its hard when there is events you cant avoid, birthday dinners ect, and thats when CD becomes an issue... but I turn it again into a positive and maybe take my camera out and start taking some pix of everyone... or go to the bathroom and top up my make up!

Unfortunately since these 'skinny' pictures were taken I gained all the weight back and more.. so off I go again...

I am only on day 5 of CD but for me making the concious choice to only have my shakes/porridge has been enlightening. I don't feel hungry at all but i do still think ooo I fancy xy or z but I am realising that is mostly due to habit and bordum and not hunger. It is no coincidence that as a family we all eat the same meals but I have the extras like crisps and cola and cake and its me who has the best part of 100lb to lose.
On 810 and working my way up the plans.

Longterm goal is keep the weight off and tone up some more hopefully losing another dress size.

PurplePixie, know what you mean. After Xmas, I found I had a fridge & cupboards full of cake, biscuits, trifle, party food... in spite of masses of rellies staying at Xmas & a big party at new year, it was clear I was the one who did most of the eating... and when i wasn't eating, that food went mostly untouched. Moment of truth!!! CD is great at providing these moments of insight... scary, huh?!!!

I'm fairly new but I can definitely identify with this! CD is the besttttt thing I have found and it really is changing my habits in a big way! I definitely need the strictness that comes with following this diet as it keeps me in check, the fact I can function on such a small amount of calories (so long as they provide the correct nutrition) is still amazing to me, i'm not hungry, i'm not tired, i'm happy and looking forward to the next weigh in and the next one and the next one! It's taught me a LOT about food and how bad my eating habits were before (even the ones i thought were healthy!!)

Nothing else has ever worked for me like this diet is and although I seem to be a slow starter I am already seeing the benefits and loving them! Nights out are a little tough but the results are moreee than worth it! x

I think the winners here are the ones who can't manage trying to cut down on food, but who can cut it out altogether - i.e. the diet does all the work for you! (Does that mean we're all lazy cows, lol?! I know I am! ) I don't know why, but I can walk past food and enjoy my CD meal, but if any food passes my lips, I'm lost (which I think is why diets involving food have failed me!).

Anyone reading this might think, "there's no way this lot could ever cope with maintenance" - but when we've achieved our dramatic weight losses (which we will) we are going to look and feel so amazing - and our stomachs will have shrunk too, of course - that we will be able to manage it. This diet has taught me that quality is more important than quantity (I'm quite happy to stick my finger into the OH's gravy and taste it and enjoy it - I don't need to pour pints of it over a big dinner to appreciate it. Big dinners can come later - when all this is over!). A tasty bit of chicken with some salad will do me fine - I don't care if I never eat another chip, quite frankly, I'm really not bothered about them.

The other thing, which my CDC keeps saying, that we never really need to come off the diet. If we go on holiday and put on some weight, then we can hit the packets when we get back and sort ourselves out. And for myself, I love the porridge so much that I could carry on eating it forever!

There's a million reasons why this diet hits all the right buttons - these are only a few!
