White Tea...

And I don't mean the normal kind with milk!

I've always been a drinker of Green Tea as it is known to be good for you (despite the quite vile taste), but a few weeks back I read about White Tea.

White tea is the leaves from the plant that are picked when they first sprout (so the baby leaves in a way).

Basically White tea has been proved to be miles more beneficial than Green Tea and also it's benefits with regards weight. I've been drinking it for about a week now and it's delicious!! Fairly expensive though, about £1.50 for 20 bags. Best one I've tried is made by Clipper.

I've found this article if anyone wants a read.

Ancient Chinese white tea may fight obesity - Telegraph

Sorry for the waffle, just though you might all be interested xxx

Thanks for that, might have to try that, been drinking black coffee in the morning, but not doing much for i'm afraid.

I'm drinking peppermint tea at the moment, not becasue I particularly like it, but just becasue it is a different taste in my mouth (if you know what I mean). Often wondered what white tea was, think I might try that. Thanks

i like white tea... its yummy:)

Just been out & got some, thanks Elay, it's nice!

where can you buy it from ? sounds really good :)

You can get it from most supermarkets. I got mine from Tesco. Think it was roughly £1.45 ish and that was for the Clipper Brand - 20 Bags (unbleached). It's in a silvery Grey Box. It tastes really good opposed to some other teas.

I got the Clipper one from tesco... it was 94p!!! (must be an offer) Bargain. They had Twinings too, almost double the price.

Will give it a whirl - thanks for the top tip! I love peppermint too - have become quite addicted.

I liked it better than green tea, not so bitter, but took teabag out after 2 mins...

I actually like the taste of green tea and have been drinking it for the past 3 years (couldn't drink ordinary tea now!) I'm going to get some white tea now as a bit of a change:D

I read that article when Jim posted it, saw some organic is asda last week but didn't check price. I am gonna quit drinking coffee again when my jar is done, got some peppermint and camomile in so I might try this too.

Oh the *******..... i'll have to go down there and stock up whilst it's cheap!

Definately much nicer than Green Tea, as katycakes said, much less bitter than normal Green Tea.

I am sure you cannot have camomile tea as it is from a flower and you can only drink tea from leaf plants.

I was just about to say that too- such a shame:sigh:as i really like camomile.
Thanks for the tip though, that's definitely one for the tesco order!

Just wanted to say :thankyou: for posting this thread, my OH got me some today and its lovely !! I didnt like green tea, im not a lover of black coffee and i dont like normal tea without milk but this white tea is great.

I bought some today aswell, but they didn't have the clipper one in my Tesco, they did have an organic one, but on closer inspection it said it had citrus in it too, so ended up with the Twinings one which cost me £1.49.... the first cup I made was a bit strong, but read directions for the second which said take teabag out cup before 1 minute, so did that and it tasted great... looked up some info on it and it says it is 3 times better for you than green tea...
