Questions re: Cambridge Diet

Good Afteroon All,

I've been seriously thinking about starting the Cambridge Diet and have a couple of questions.

Loose Skin: I have about 6-7 stone to lose and I'm scared of having saggy loose skin after following the diet. How likely is it I'll have skin problems and can anything be done during the diet to minimise loose skin?

Commitment: Even though I plan to do the diet and stick to it, what is the minimum commitment to the diet? I.e. do you have to pay for a certain amount of weeks up front and do you have to stay with the plan for a minimum length of time.

Those are my two main questions for now - I'll continue reading this very informative forum - you've been lots of help so far!

Hiya and welcome to the site,

My own opinion is I have the same amount in total to lose and as regards the skin we are all different but I don't care as long as I get slim, and I can always wear 'Harvest Festivals' (Knickers - All is safely gathered in).

You don't pay up front except for the packs you want. When you see your CDC it is usually weekly so you only pay for a week around £35. I buy in extra packs more so that I can have a variety. The commitment is down to how much you want to lose weight and how fast the steps are all different and we all suit different ones.

Find a good local CDC someone you feel comfortable with and that you know you can phone whenever you need help and remember we are always here to help and support.

xx

Hi Cecelia,

Your very welcome

Lose skin is a big fear for anyone with a lot of weight to lose and it is one of mine also

I have lost over five stone and my skin is fine, so far so good. I have another three or four stone to lose and it does worry me somewhat.

There are a lot of factors that can influence how your skin will be. But it is one of those things, you don't really know until your there.

I have seen some lose over ten stone and are fine and others lose less than three stone and have loose skin.

I do a lot of self massage with moisturizer and body brushing, light stretch exercise with light weights and I have been using a thigh toner for the last few weeks and do about ten minutes on an exercise bike most days...

I had very bad psoriasis before I started and nothing seemed to be of any help, short term yes, but after a week or so I was back to square one again. I have found it has improved greatly whilst on a vlcd.

You have many options on Cambridge Diet from total food replacement to different steps. Your councellor will be able to help you decide what is right for you and your financial commitment is from week to week.

Diet: slimfast
My skin was really baggy and I only lost 4 stone, so it really does depend on you body. I`ve had three children and I had three under 2 they were 0-1-2 Then when I started gaining weight again and I had gone from a size 10 to a size 12 I looked a whole lot better with my clothes off at a size 12 than when I was a size 10. So I`m thinking more tummy excerising this time around and get the last stone off doing sensible eating like the Fat Smash diet!

Hi there,
Its my first week. I pay £35-00 for the soul source (thats 3 shakes/soups a day).
Its hard, but I believe its worth it (after reading all the posts on this site).
As for baggy skin, a friend recommended Bio Oil. Its for stretch marks, but she says it really helped her.
I am using a few drops of this in my bath, plus doing some gentle toning exercises.
Good luck

Hello friend,
It's good to know that you have started thinking of doing dieting, but I think you should do regular exercise also, alongwith dieting to loose weight.
Dieting doesn't mean that you will skip nutritious food also, try to take good nutritious and less fatty food..
After weight loss your skin will become a bit loose , but it will be recovered by proper exercise..

Regards,
Nelson

i've lost over 10 stone and have an almighty amount of excess skin i'm afraid. 6 stone in 20 weeks on CD, the rest before....but its a lot of weight to lose for your skin to catch up with.
I'm pursuing a Tummy tuck as its excessive.
Saying that, i've gone from a 24 - 18 (pre-CD) then an 18 to a 10 on CD which is worth it no matter how much skin i have!

xx

i have 6 and half stone in total to loose lost nearly 3 and half so far my skin looks ok when im stood up but when im lay down it looks a bit like a shar pei , i think i will have some excess skin at goal but i dont think it will be excessive. theres a lot of factors in it though such as age if you have had children etc so no great way of knowing untill you get there.
