Hi and good luck for your start on cd, its not so much the calorie intake you need to cut down on.....more the carbs as it is mainly carb withdrawal you get the headaches from.

Cd dont recommend you chew gum as it makes some people hungry and prone to make them cheat, as it makes your stomach release acid as its thinking food is on its way. The official word is no, but I confess to chewing gum when I am cooking and serving food to stop me being tempted to pick.

Hi Becks and welcome. I think you are allowed sugar free chewing gum but some find that it can increase feelings of hunger. It is always a good idea to cut back at bit as it will lessen the carb cravings when you start CD, they always advise on not having a last blow out so you are doing the right thing. Good luck with your journey and don't forget to let us know how you are getting on.
