Question How much will I loose?

    Hello everyone

    Can you tell me -

how much I can expect to loose on average per week or month using CD and sticking to it...

    Current weight 10.7 - goal 9 stone

    Height 5ft 3 inch

I know it sounds like a silly question - but is there a target amount of weight loss CD aims at?? if you know what I mean....I mean WW aims at a 1 - 2lb loss a week using point/core plan - similar so does SW..............

    any advice/guidance welcome....

    thank you!!!

    booosh!! xxx

The average on ss is 7lbs in the first week, then 7lbs a fortnight thereafter. You haven't got much to lose however, so your weight loss could be just a little slower. The losses on 790 don't vary too much from those on ss - what plan are you starting on?

Lost five and a half stone on CD, in just under five months.
Have maintained a size 10/12 since July 2005, and have recently lost a further stone.

    Hi Jo.... thanks for responding...

i am going to call a CDC a little later tonight when I have the kiddies in bed and I can talk... so am going to take her advice really - but can I pick your brains... what plan would you advise me to start on? - I am planning to start asap - hopefully I can see her tomorrow - a frind has given me a handful of various CD packs to get me going so I could start in the morning then get the official weigh in and assessment done asap -
what plan would you advise with my weight/height/bmi etc...

    You're welcome.

At your weight and height, you have a BMI of just over 26. Because of this, you should really just start straight on the 790 plan, as you're supposed to move up to that one once you reach 10st 6lbs anyway! When you get the first half a stone off, you should start moving up the steps.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi! I'm 5'3 as well
3rd week weigh in is tomorrow, expecting 66kg (10st 5) tomorrow (was 66.2 this morn). Started 3 weeks ago at 11st 11lb, so will have lost around 1st 6lbs over that period.

I do cycle 10 miles 4-5 days/week, which might have helped on the weight loss. Otherwise I'm relatively inactive (am a student, so have my bum on a chair all day!!)

    Hope this helps,
    lots of love

Just to confirm that to do either SS or 790 you must be more than a stone over a BMI of 25 and hence if your BMI is 26 then you should be doing 1000/1200 or 1500 to get to goal weight.

Remember that the key is stabilising and maintaining weight, it isn't about how quickly you lose it.

If you do 1000 programe MB then you will still be at goal weight in a very quick period of time.

I know SS/790 losses look amazing on paper BUT key is keeping the weight off and doing VLCD when your are technically only a few pounds overweight at most is not advisable and goes against the COMA recommendations.

    oh!!!???

so your recommending the 1000 plan -

what would you say is a good loss on that plan then for someone with my height/weight etc...

    all advice gratefully received....

    Hiya Boosh

OK under current official Cambridge guidance you would have to weigh 11 stone 1 pound to be able to do either 790 or SS. Even if you were 11 stone 1 pound you would only be able to do this for a week as you would very quickly drop under the level allowed for what we call VLCD (under 800 calories).

Your BMI is exactly 26 and hence to not be overweight you need to lose 6 pounds, your goal of 9 stone would put your BMI at 22.3 which is OK but personally I wouldn't want you to go any lower than that as maintaining would be difficult.

In terms of weightloss on 1000 then if you are an average lady (no such thing I know), then you need 2000 calories a day, so taking 1000 calories means you are burning 1000 calories of fat a day, this is 7000 calories a week, a pound of fat is around 3500 calories and hence you should lose around 2 pounds a week or 9 pounds a month. Hence on the premise you want to lose 21 pounds to get to goal weight I would do 1000 for around 6 weeks and then step up to 1200 and you will be done by the end of November hopefully.

Water is key! Still drink around 3 to 4 litres a day and of course gentle toning exercise is recommended.

    Mike
