Newbie - Just wondering about tips for sucess :-)

Hello All, hope you are all well

I was just wondering if any of you had tips for sucess of SS. I am curently on day 2 so a long way to go :-( I just, if it can be avoided, dont want to start any bad habits so if you have any tips i would be grateful. I also have a few questions maybe some of you who have been there done that might be able to help with:

    1) Would you start making muffins, cakes etc from the CD packs? I am worried that eating the diet in food form may have a detrimental effect

    2) Do you have your CD meals the same time everyday? Is there an optimum time to take the meals or just have them when you want them?

    3) Would you wait until you are hungry to eat?

    4) Do you have to have your allocated meals every day, does it disrupt the plan if you only have two of the three meals you are suppose to have?

Im really concious not to form any bad habits, bad habits have got me to the point I am now. I really want this diet to work. For the first time whilst on a diet I am feeling really positive and my will power seems to be on side so I want to do as much as I can to help.

Thanks for taking time to reply to me

    Hi Everchanging,

Just wanted to wish you luck with your CD Journey. I'll try to answer your questions.

    1) I have never "cooked" the packs as keeping it simple works best for me. Although I know that others swear by the muffins. It wont have a detrimental effect on your weight loss although I believe you should only cook one pack a day as the packs can lose some of their nutrients in the cooking.

    2) I have the meals at roughly the same time every day, but try to wait as long as possible as I know that evenings are my danger time. I think it was icemoose that used to save all of his packs till the evening and just get through the day on water and coffee.

    3) Once you are in ketosis you shouldnt feel physical hunger. You may still feel emotional hunger or cravings but dont give in to them.

    4) its vitally important to have all three packs so that you get your RDA of all the essential vits and minerals. As we are surviving on so few calories your body will go into starvation mode if you cut out any of the packs.

One thing you didnt mention is water. It really is true that the more you drink, the more you shrink so try to drink 4 - 5 litres of water or black tea/coffee every day.

Whereabouts in brum are you? Im in walmley, sutton coldfield.

    Hi Wannalose,

Thanks for taking the time to reply to me. As you may be able to tell I am desperate for this to work. I have just come to the point where something has to change! I live in New Oscott so not that far away really. Your weight lose is amazing you must be very pleased and proud of yourself.

IF you dont mind me askin how many dress sizes have you gone down. I dont know if this is the correct attitude to take but I really am not bothered what I weigh I am more interested in dress size I am currently a 22 and want to be a 14 so I am hoping to lose 4 dress sizes just wondering what a realistic time scale would be for that.

    Well done and good luck

    Hi everchanging,
I save my packs til as late as possible, cos I struggle through the evenings otherwise. I don't cook my packs, just have them as shakes or soups.
Be prepared after a few days to find that emotionally you are desperate to eat. I don't think it happens to everyone, but I know it does happen to me and I've read others talk about it, and it's an emotional hunger rather then physical. Take every minute as it comes. Remember when you have lost the weight you will be able to have what you are craving, but if you have it now you will have to start again (and I know all about re-starts!). I always say if I can get to 4pm then what's the point of giving in then - I might as well finish the day on the diet and see how I feel in the morning.
    Drink lots of water!
I was a size 22/24 when I started - like you I want to be a 14. I've put on a few pounds in the last few weeks being off the diet, but when I was at my lowest of 13st 6lbs (so nearly 4 stone from my largest) I was a borderline 16/18. I think the general rule is around 10-14lbs per clothes size though everyone is different.

I did try making muffins at the start but couldn't get it to go right so gave up. I know alot of poeple on here love making things from the packs but it doesn't bother me.(I don't have the shakes anyway)

    2) Do you have your CD meals the same time everyday? Is there an optimum time to take the meals or just have them when you want them? Have them when you want them really. My worst time before i started CD was the evening so i tend to have my packs at 2pm,6pm,8.30pm,10pm.

    3) Would you wait until you are hungry to eat? You shouldn't feel physical hunger once your in Ketosis. Like WL8stone says it's usually emotional cravings, i'm a very emotional eater and have some times when life has not been good that i have thought oh i could just eat a pizza/chocolate etc. But eating that is what got me here in the first place and i wan't to lose the weight more than i want to eat rubbish so i've always managed to overcome things.

    4) Do you have to have your allocated meals every day, does it disrupt the plan if you only have two of the three meals you are suppose to have? You should have all your allocated packs a day as they contain all the vitamins, etc that you need.

Good luck, and keep glugging the water. Stay positive and determined and you will do it!!

wow you are only 5 minutes from me then.

I am like you and am going more by dress size than weight. I started at 18st 1lb and was busting out of my size 20 clothes (too stubborn to buy 22s) I am now a 14 in most shops and 16 in some. That took me around 3 months, and I have wasted the last month really by cheating nearly every day but am trying really hard to get back on track today - so far so good.

There are some pics on my diary of my starting weight and then after 2 months and losing 3 stone. I went down to a size 16 in two months so would probably be in a 12 by now if I hadnt mucked up the last month.

Thank you all for your replies and your hints and tips. I have to say you are all an inspiration to someone embarking on this journey. Thank you for sharing. I am also glad to hear that the majority of the time the majority of the people doing CD seem to have accepted it as their normal routine. Heres hoping we all achieve what we have set out to!!!!!
