Exploding Porridge

Hi everybody,

I tried to make the porridge this morning, and it exploded all over my microwave. My instructions are in Dutch (my Dutch isn't very good) as I live in the Netherlands so I read the instructions correctly (or so I thought!).

Do you cover the porridge in the microwave? I used a deep dish, added the 140ml water (it may be slightly different in the UK), stirred, and heated it for 1 minute and all I ended up with was watery porridge all over my microwave!

Please help - I did Cambridge a few years ago and I recall the porridge exploding on me then, but I can't remember how I fixed the problem - my counsellor simply told me to use a deep bowl (which I am doing anyway)...
 
I add the water gradually until its slightly watery as it thickens once heated.

I put it in the micro for 40 seconds and then leave for 5 minutes until its cooled down a bit and it will also thicken in that time too.

I find if I do it in a plastic bowl it will explode but a normal glass or ceramic bowl it's fine. I don't cover it either.

I only use 100mls of water also not in plastic bowl/dish I find it really watery if I use 140mls.
