Step 1 Sole Source Very Slight Lower Back Pain?

Hi all,

This is my first post here, hope everyone is doing well.

I started the CD Sole Source on Thursday 2nd January, so 4 days into it. I'm in strong Ketosis and feeling great, apart from a few cravings :)

I noticed I have been experiencing some slight lower side back pain in the morning, and then now and again throughout the day, nothing major, just a twinge. I have put it down to muscle pains, or just my Kidneys getting used of increased water intake after starting the CD.

I have tested my urine and everything is normal apart from my PH level looks to be increased, I'm not 100% sure if this is something that is normal when on a VLC Diet or something that should concern me in terms of my Kidneys struggling?

Any advice would be gratefully received,

Iain

I would definitely up your water intake, if you ketone level is high, as high concentrations of ketones in urine can put extra pressure on your 'waterworks'...
I hope you are taking 4 packs a day too.
(Men tend to respond better to ketogenic diets... so you should see an impressive loss at the end of the week!)

My water intake is very high currently, prob about 10 Ltrs PD Approx.

However I am only on 3 packs PD, I have taken it to 4 packs per day now starting today. The trouble is when I'm in Ketosis I don't feel hunger at all, and thereofre need to force myself to eat.

Do you mean you are drinking 10 litres per day? If so that is very dangerous and will overstrained your kidneys. You should be drinking no more than 3.5 litres at the most.

Yeah that's correct, 10ltrs per day. I drink a lot of water normally but not as much as that. Sounds like I should reduce it.

10L of water may be dangerous if you usually only drink 1-2L a day, but it is possible over a period of time to safely condition the body to accept larger amounts of water.
The problem with sudden big increases of water is that it can lead to Hyponatraemia which can cause Heart Arrythmias...however this is a completely seperate issue to kidneys.... they LOVE more water as it makes their job easier.....(essentially, your kidneys are micro sieves).
