Other people eating

My patience is wearing thin!

I sit next to someone at work who starts eating at 10am and finishes around 4pm, all healthy stuff but it drives me mad. A very large container full of veg, fruit and dips. I keep on having gentle digs but its driving me mad, crunchy carrots and stinky peppers all day (peppers make me feel physically sick, that isn't helping either).

Generally I am OK with people eating and don't mind cooking for my wife, its just the constant crunch, smell and chew at work.

Whinge over.

I feel you pain. I'm the same, girl at work eating popcorn with her mouth open. Crunch frigging crunch. Oh and the girl on the train eating crisps at 7 in the morning. I actually got up and moved as she was making me twitch with frustration lol.

My husband is the worst........I wanna make him eat on the balcony lol x

It may be healthy stuff, but her/his blood sugars will be going up and down and up and down. They will be putting weight on or not losing at all.

I am lucky that it's only really the kids that I am around and somehow it isn't the same as I want to see them eating nice healthy food. The thing that I am finding hardest is that I used to always taste their food when making it, I have lost count of the number of times that I have nearly put that spoon in my mouth. Thankfully I haven't done it, I have now started getting my eldest to taste things for me which works quite well as she feels important and at the end of the day it's her food so doesn't really need me to taste it if she is happy with it.

Hi leehal. Unless your colleague has a medical problem, why are they eating all day? It's inappropriate surely? They must be distracted from their work. I think it would be fine to ask them to eat elsewhere if they have to. You could just say you find the smell of the food off putting outside lunch...

Well I say all this, and mean it, but am actually a wuss when it comes to standing up for myself so need to take a long hard look at my own advice lol. I do think you should say something though. It doesn't have to be about you and the diet - just the fact it's distracting for you having someone eating at their desk all day.

One of my flatmates ate pizza 5 out of 7 days last week! I take strange strength in that though, just think of what it's doing to their blood sugar etc... and how much better you are. Winners!

I work in a care home and meal times drive me crazy, 11 elderly folk slowly eating delicious home cooked food, followed by choices of cakes, ice creams, creme caramels, angel delight and various other yumminess, followed by cream teas, and I have to serve it all, plus watching my co-workers chowing down while I sip a shake, it's so hard, but it'll be worth it xx
