Step 1 Sole Source Why do people do this?!!

I since starting CWP (only 4days ago!) I have so far had many comments and opinions from many people. Below is a select few:

1) "Oh that's ridiculous! You are fine as you are!"

My reply: "well, thank you. But I'm going to try anyway."
My thoughts: Really? Really? No, I am not fine. I am quite clearly overweight. I am quite clearly 4 sizes bigger now than when you first met me and I want to be healthier.

2) "Oh that's awful! Don't do thaaaaat!!! Hey, have you thought that you could just do [x, y or z] instead?" (This one so many times!!)

My reply: "I actually want to do it this way"
My thoughts: no, of course [x, y or z] hadn't crossed my mind at all. Never. ;-) The decision to begin a VLCD just popped into my head from thin air. I have not researched it, I have not been to GP, I have not agonised over when best to start, I have not looked at all potential options, I have not looked at all the potential problems associated with VLCDs. I am in fact a complete moron who knows nothing. Thank you for your suggestions, I will completely shift my reckless decision and follow the rules you said, just because.

3) "you have to eat something? Just shakes or soups? That's just unhealthy!"
My reply: "I think that long term, it's a tad more unhealthy to be 4 stone overweight than actively trying to lose weight."
My thoughts: you are kidding me right?

4) "just one little bit won't hurt, come on you've earned it!"
My reply: "no really, I'm fine."
My thoughts: no really, I'm fine, but if you say it one more time I'll grab the damn cupcake and shove it in your face. I don't want any risk of being knocked out of ketosis. I want to beat this. I am doing really well and actually, I am not struggling to force myself not to have it, I am genuinely choosing not to eat it.

5) "well my [friend/neighbour/partner/workmate/dog] did that one and they put it all back on you know."
My reply: "that's a shame. But you know, every person is different."
My thoughts: yes, I have heard all these horror stories before. I can't promise that I won't be one of those people, but I'm still going to try. I still want to do this. My way. My journey. My story. My ending. I don't want to know the ending. It'll ruin the surprise.

I will add more as they come in.....please also add any pearls of wisdom you have had! Look forward to hearing them! ;-)

I get exactly the same response from people. It's lucky we can vent on here and support each other. Good luck and keep going x

Thanks sweet halo! It's crazy that mention CWP and people look at you like you're about to spontaneously combust or something!

21lbs in one week? You know you are meant to drink the shakes, not just stare at then right?! Ha! Good work, I'm extremely impressed!

Thanks cwp2014, it was a complete shock to lose that much but I'll take it.
Haha I did a lot of staring before I could finally pluck up the courage to drink one.

Good do luck for your weigh next week.

'As soon as you eat proper food it'll all go back on'

only if I don't follow the steps back to normal eating and change my view of what normal is. But everyone who loses weight then goes back to bad habits will get fat again.

Thanks Emma! That's a classic of my husband actually! Bless him ;-)

Anyone else had silly comments/questions/advice?!! Please post to brighten up our days!

My work colleague was very sceptical about cwp, he did the 'my wife tried slim fast' and gave up after a week then got even bigger' Then watched me lose more than two stone (with a bit more to go) and he asked if he could have my consultants details... He's since lost all at a stone himself.

A moment of triumph.

Also those who insist it can be done by exercise alone. I was in a car crash last year and I went from training for a triathlon to sitting and eating. Unable to even move my arms to swim I needed some control back. Cwp works for me.

Everyone's an expert regarding weight-loss - apart from those people who are naturally slim!

Some people aren't very good with change - even the thought of you changing or being different might unsettle them. That's their stuff - your stuff is to get rid of the weight and to be gorgeous!

Hi Emma,

You are so completely right with the 'control' thing. My eating (and baking!) was way out of control. I need the discipline of CWP to get me back on track. And it's working. Already. I'm not talking about the weight loss as such, I'm talking about the mental state I am now in. (A positive state not a mental case I mean!) ;-)

Thanks mabs! So true!! Both my sister in laws have said "wow, you'll be so different"!

No I won't, I'll just look different!

For me its been the 'you're not drinking? Are you pregnant? What's wrong with you?' I explain I'm on the Cambridge and get told 'one won't hurt' I insist I want a tap water then just get accused of being boring! Driving me crackers!

Yeeeeees!!! That killed me the other day at BBQ.... Just one won't hurt?!! Haha!

Oh wow... Not had the pregnancy accusations yet.... But it's bound to start tongues wagging as back to work tomorrow after two weeks off and I'll be going to the loo all the time!! But I just don't want to explain about my diet to the whole office. Because I'm sick of other peoples opinions. I just want to do it, not talk about it trying to convince others it ok!

Haha I know exactly what you mean! I've only told a few people about it because I don't want to set myself up to fail if you know what I mean!
I was shocked at the pregnancy accusations lol! I thought I looked a bit thinner not pregnant haha!

Yes I had someone ask me the same thing "if you're not drinking you'd better be pregnant, ill or on call" was what one person said to me. This is my diet that I'm doing for me and so I have no wish to tell everyone about it. Why do people feel the need to ask such personal questions and expect you to be happy to spill the answer as well? Well I told them it's was because unlike them I didn't need alcohol to enjoy myself and the following day I would to have a hangover and would be able to get up and do all those things that they wouldn't.

I tell people that I'm on antibiotics.

I think a fab side effect of this diet is realising that like you tiggemma I don't need alcohol at all and actually I've still gone clubbing and socialising without it making a difference. Its great! Def an eye opener!

I still fancy the odd G&T or glass of red though. Nothing else tastes quite like it! But I definitely don't NEED it.

Don't loose too much. You'll look ill.
My reply: so slim healthy people all look ill do they?
My thoughts: so if you have such concern over my weight and my body, WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME I WAS GETTING FAT!!!

Too many people comment on the losses and never the gains!

And what right has someone got to tell ME what I should or should not weigh?

Can you tell this comment bothers me lol

Slim healthy people only 'look ill' when they're you. At least that's how it feels. I have been asked if I'm ill and that's the reason I've lost weight. I said no I'm just watching what I eat. I thought because the only way I could be slim is if I was ill?!? How rude.
