food flavouring ideas

Well tonight for my dinner I had 2 poached eggs on plan and couldn't help but put the smallest drizzle of tomato sauce on it and I mean smallest for flavour!!!

I really need help finding ways to flavour my foods as that's the only thing I'm struggling with

It was a one off and I just wondered how to people flavour their chicken or eggs as I really struggle for taste xx

I eat a lot of chicken or turkey and flavour with dried chilli and garlic and some low fat soy sauce which my consultant says is fine

Balsamic vinegar I think is ok on the foody plans too! Yum with mushrooms

Any of the herbs and spices are good. So try adding some mixed herbs to scrambled eggs or a bit of cayenne to your veg. Salads are good with a dash of balsamic lemon juice. All of them are ok according to the book. So just try a few things out and don't forget good old salt and pepper!

I'm on step two and having same problem. Especially with chicken meals it's so hard to get flavour. I have been told by my consultant to avoid balsamic vinegar and lemon tho because they contain citric acid which can take you out of ketosis. Also avoid soda water because of the added salt. Is anyone else on step 2 and what have your losses been like? I was on ss but moved up because I changed consultant and was cheating a lot on ss!!!

Total loss = 26lbs

I'm on step 2 and the book and my consultant both say that a bit of balsamic or lemon juice are ok. Not drowning it or anything. As for chicken try baking it in baking paper with some spices. It'll be moist and tastier. It depends on how the water is fizzed. If it's true soda water it'll have some bicarbonate in it and that can have a water retaining effect if you have too much. Having said that there is also a school of thought that salt helps with the carb withdrawals. I think a bit of mineral water and lots of plain water will be fine.

Yeah strange how different ppl say different things!!! Will try baking idea thank you :)

Total loss = 26lbs

P.s. what have your losses been like on step 2, I've only just started step 2 myself.

Total loss = 26lbs

I've lost over 2 stone on step 2. I find that I lose something every week but it varies between 1-4lbs. Things have slowed now I'm nearer goal but tbh it's a good step I can socialise (green salad and chicken no dressing!) with friends and still be on plan. I have enough energy to exercise to my hearts content ( I was training for a triathlon pre accident and weight gain) and for those days when I'm just not hungry I know that three products are nutritionally enough. Hope you like step 2 as much as I do.

Also so everyone has different ideas about what works. But if your food tastes crap you're going to give up so a bit of acid will help you stick to plan and a small amount shouldn't kick you out of ketosis. For that though the allowable food says chick peas I'd avoid and stick to the purer protein like meat, fish and eggs.

Thanks. You have done amazing. How long did it take you to lose 2 stone. And also why stay away from chick pea? Does that also apply to the other legumes... Lentils etc?

Total loss = 26lbs

The only reason to go with protein is you stay in ketosis for def. otherwise you can get hungry. Took 3 months for the 2 stone. Recently not been so good (had a bad end of March and April and wasn't exactly on plan the whole time) but back on track and kicking arse now.

for me I use a lot of fresh or dried herbs for my chicken such as basil, thyme, oregano, cilantro and parsley
I also sometimes use curry, masala , paprika .... etc I mean the sky is your limit, sometimes I also use the vegetables that I like so it can add flavours as well

don't eat tasteless food because that would make you get more bored with the food
