Hello all, I'm returning! :-)

Going for Goal!
Hi all,

My name is Emma and I am a returning to Cambridge!

I started originally when I had reached an ultimate low with my obesity and needed fast results. I did really well (lost 8.5 stone). I was down to my last stone when I was fortunate to fall pregnant with our now 3 year old son! Since then I gave fallen back into bad habits and regained most of the weight. I think this is partly due to now following the steps to maintenance, but mainly through my negligence and lack of thought.

I vowed that I would never be as big as I was back then, and it is slowly creeping up to that figure so I am here to give the diet one final go, where I plan to sole source and follow the steps to maintain my weight.

Last time I did the diet I was very focused on my target weight and was driven towards that number. It put a lot of pressure on me, and on reflection I have decided to tackle the diet differently this time.

I would like to sole source for 6 months only. Regardless of my weight after that 6 months I am going to move up the steps. I know in my heart that after 6 months of the diet, I began slipping, cheating, beating myself up and just becoming incredibly unhappy with the feelings of guilt. It seems silly to put myself through that agony that I felt back then.

I don't want to be in size 10 clothes. For me, I was happiest in a size 14/16. I felt healthy, had energy and looked at myself in the mirror with approval. That is what I am aiming to feel again.

Bring on ketosis!

OMG i remember you!!!!! Congrats on your son and good to see you back!

How are you finding day 1?

I lost 5 stone in 5 months, then put a couple on so looking to shift that and get back to my healthy BMI weight.

Hello lovely!

I recognise your face but not the name - have you changed it?!

I'm pleased to see someone who remembers me (once seen never forgotten eh!)

Well done you on getting back to it! I did have a go at it once before and found it incredibly hard and didn't last long at all. I think my hormones were still wild after having Elliot so I couldn't keep my willpower together. Feeling determined and have a few goals that I'd love to be slim for. I miss going into any shop to buy clothes that I actually liked rather than anything that will cover me up.

I'm cross with myself for getting that way again, but the main thing is getting on with the diet!

Wow, you have done so well loosing 16lb since 14th April! That's amazing! Well done. How have you found being back on it?

I'm OK at the moment, I'm at home this week so able to get into it properly and subside the headaches with pain killers and many loo trips! Once I'm in ketosis I know I'll get a second wind and feel full of energy. Looking forward to that!

Hiya Emma

I recognise you too!! How are you?! I remember that you were pregnant with your son - congrats!! Can't believe it's three years tho. Now that really is quite scary.

Bloody awful that we are back on here... I only came back yesterday. I'm doing a combination of LL (stuff I can buy from Superdrug!! yay!!), and Slim and Save... I've discovered over the years its all the same. And considering how much money it all costs, I'm going for value for money now.

I figure if you stick to any VLCD you'll lose weight. So what difference does it make if I find a Cambridge shake at the back of the cupboard, or I have a soup from Superdrug, and a bar from S&S? They are all the same! lol

Good luck with it sweetie. I'm so glad i've found someone I know. These forums seem a little quiet.... I'm sure we'll change that!! hahaha!!

Lynne!

So great to see you buddy! I agree, it's a bloomin' shame that we are back here but it shows we are strong women, up for a fight of battling the extra lbs!

I haven't heard of LL or slim n save. Are you losing the same amount of weight each week? Is it a lot less expensive?

I think I like how Cambridge has all the nutrients and minerals that the body needs, which is why I stick with it. At least I know that my body is getting what it needs. I guess I'm distrusting of other companies. The price is fairly high. The sachets are £2.15 each now! I dug out an old receipt and I used to pay £1.85 for a sachet! I guess everything has to move on with the times, shame my employer doesn't feel the same! lol

How much have you got to lose or are you avoiding numbers like me? I'm sticking with it for 6 months then moving up the steps. I can't cope for more than 6 months, it's so hard.

Hiya

I know! But here we are again.... we could just resign ourselves to the fact that we are this size... but we are going to do something about it! lol

I've bought LighterLife 5:2 from Superdrug (they've introduced this range for the 5:2 Fast range, but i'm pretty sure its exactly the same). And I've bought Slim and Save before now (their bars), and honestly, the Lighter Life bars and the Slim and Save bars are the same (same plain packaging).

I did just plan to do the 5:2 diet... but I'm going to see how i'm going to do - the calorie intake is basically Sole Source tbh. I've done it before so i'm sure I can do it again.

I'm only on day 2. Honestly Emma, I'm not sure what i'm doing! But i've started, so that's the main thing! I'm out on the weekend, so I'm not going to beat myself up about it. As i've started doing this, I know I can be really good on the weekend - don't want to undo all that good work i've done!! See how it goes.

And I really shouldn't be on the Cambridge forum... lol but nothing was happening anywhere else. And it is a VLCD.... lol

I'd like to lose two stones... asap. All my clothes are either very tight, or I can't get on at all. Its not good. In fact, its miserable.

Oh joy!!

Lx

Poor you! It is miserable when clothes don't fit. I have a beautiful dress that I wore for my brother in laws graduation that is collecting dust in my wardrobe - I'd give anything to be in that again!

I may take a peak at the LL 5:2 (what do the numbers mean?) I assume it's 3 shakes and water just the same?

Hello - I'm here still too, I remember you from way back! Good luck x

Hi Ruth,

Look at you girl - you are doing amazingly well! How much have you lost altogether now? I imagine you feel amazingly well in yourself?

It's so good to see people who were starting out who have stuck with it and lost so much! It won't be long now and you'll be at goal eh!!!

As of this morning, I've just tipped into tripple digits, 100.5lbs gone! 1st 8.5lbs to go until my next goal, will see how I feel when I get there - I know I will want to lose a bit more, but will decide how much as I go. And I feel amazing, I really, really do. People don't recognise me anymore though, hahaha!

The 5:2 diet is the Fasting diet.... you fast for 2 days, and eat normally on the other 5 days. Hence the 5:2 Fast diet (not fast as in speed, fast as in "fasting" lol).

The shakes are the same, even tho I haven't bought any. But I did buy the bars, soups and meals (pasta cabonara and spag bol - which I had last night, and even tho it was small, was surprisingly tasty!).

I've never had meals on a VLCD - what I mean is the ones that Cambridge do. I'm going order meals from Slim and Save now, as they are a little cheaper, and yesterday, I ordered three, free new items on Slim and Save... so I'm going to try two meals for free! Bargain!

There's so many different products out there Emma. I think that's why Lighter Life has started to sell these things in Superdrug. The competition is really strong!!

I was lizznsimon back then I think oddly, or lizznfreya. Well the divorce changed the first (he went off with someone else when I was thin would you believe!).

How are you finding it this time round?

Current loss: 12lbs and 7.5inches

Oh hun, that's terrible, you poor thing (((hugs)))

Only on my first day today and so far feeling fine. Had a few moments where I've thought about food, mainly out of habit, then I remember I'm back on CD!

Been weeing for England, which is a sure sign that I'm doing something right! Lol

Nothing to be sorry about hun, he was an arsehole lol

Glad you're still getting on ok! And weeing is a definite good sign! Do you bother checking if you're in ketosis? I can usually just tell from the lack of headache and hunger lol

Emma, I remember you too!! Welcome back - you were sooo successful before you can do it again!!! My situation is similar I lost 5+ stones and then fell pregnant with my little boy and unfortunately gained it all back and some!! I'm on my second week -- good luck on your journey xx

Hi Hun,

I'm so pleased to talk to someone in the same boat as me!

Elliot is 3 now and we are thinking about extending our family again, but with my weight as it is, it wouldn't be safe or fair on the baby. I really hope to shed some stones in the 6 months of sole sourcing, then to move up the steps so that I can be eating again by Christmas. Then in the new year we can start thinking seriously about the pitter patter of tiny feet again!
