    Cambridge diet support

Hi everyone! Ive just started to do the Cambridge diet and in need of support from fellow cd'rs. I tried my fitness pal but got zero support on that more like an attack for doing the diet! Anyways im on day 3 and I weigh 14st 2lbs and I am 5ft 6. I know I shouldnt have but weighed myself today and havent lost any weight yet and im on ss+? I want to be 10st. Ive got a horrendous Headache but was told to expect that until I get into ketosis. So has anyone got any words of wisdom for me to survive the weekend without any alochol or takeaways?! Lets use this forum to support eachother on our awesome weight loss journeys!

Hey Laura! Wow your stats look like you have done really well with this diet!

Yeah ive heard people say 'the more you drink the more you shrink!' Ive been trying to drink about 3 to 3.5 ltrs a day which I actually find quite easy. What stage are you doing?

Laura is right the water is so very important. Once you hit ketosis then you'll be fine.

Don't worry about the scales not moving yet, they will. Sometimes they drop several lbs overnight at the end of the week.

Just get into the swing of things and you'll be grand!

Hi Tiggemma. Thanks for the advise. How long have you been doing CD for and how do you find it fits in with you lifestyle/social life? Im a bit worried about not being able to go out and have a few drinks at the weekend anymore!

I am 1lb from goal and started on step two and am now on step 4. So I've been doing it a while. My stats aren't quite up to date but my current bmi is 23.

On step 2 you can have veg and protein, similar to ss+ but in different amounts. So whenever we went out with friends for food I would avoid the carb part and just have the other bits to stay in ketosis. Ketosis is the most important thing it stops you from being hungry and the low carb flu you're going through with the headaches etc happens again if you come out if ketosis! Best avoid popping out of ketosis if you can help it. As for weekend nights out don't drink alcohol whilst in ketosis. There's a sticky about how dangerous it can be. Anyway I would tend to go for fizzy water with ice and lemon. It looks like a G&T but isn't. Cambridge shows us that we can have a great night out totally sober. I have had some nights/weekends off for events like weddings. Then I break ketosis a few days before and stick to the lower carb drinks like vodka and slimline tonic or gin and slimline tonic.

I hope that's some help anything else just ask. This is a really supportive forum. We are here for each other through the good and the bad. Hope the rest of your week goes well!

Thats brilliant well done on your weight loss! Good idea for eating out unfortunately im not at that stage yet. In 3 weeks time im going to a concert and then away for the weekend so I think I will have to come out of ketosis and follow stage 2 whilst im away and then ss+ when I get back or does that sound too damaging?

Thanks for the support I will definitely be on here a lot throughout this! Much better than my fitness pal I tried to set up a forum on there and just got attacked by everyone for doing the diet

I hope you get that last 1lbs soon!

It's doesn't sound damaging at all. If you're going to have alcohol though you need to break ketosis and you can easily stay in ketosis on step 2! Good luck!

Thanks tiggemma. What would you say is the healthiest way to break ketosis? I want to easily be able to get back into it without feeling rubbish again.

Hiya, the best thing to do is to work your way up to step 3 for holidays and drinking. That way you break ketosis but can stick to a plan. It also means you won't get massive gains by being ss right up to eating and drinking whatever you fancy on holiday. I worked up to step three went to Italy for a week where I had pasta pizza ice cream etc and put on 6lbs but they went in a week of being back on step2.

Or you can just have some wholewheat pasta as part of a meal and just break it that way. Avoid the really sugary high GI carbs like cake and white bread!
