BMI of 50 - will I be able to SS?

    Hi,

I did CD a few years ago and did SS, but when I went back to do it again last year I was told that because my BMI is over 40 I will need to start on step 3 of the plan. I really didn't want to involve food (that was the whole point of doing CD!) so I decided not to start the diet and went to Slimming World instead. A year later and I have put on and lost the same 3 stone over and over on Slimming World because I am just awful at sticking to it, and I feel like I need to completely cut food out so I have NO choices. Because of the advice I received before about CD I have been looking at other versions of the same idea (i.e Boossh) but none of them have the ready made shakes that you can drink 3 a day of (Boossh have ready made shakes but they say have 1 a day as they have more carbs and calories in than powders). I hate the powder shakes but actually really like the taste of CD's ready made chocolate ones, so Cambridge really is the diet that I want to do.

My question (sorry going on a bit!) is how strict are they on letting you SS with a high BMI? I've seen a few posts on here about people who had SS + 2 pints of milk; is this common? I live in Bromsgrove in Worcestershire and work in Birmingham; I'm willing to travel anywhere within an hours drive of home or work to find a consultant who will let me buy 3 shakes a day!!!! The lady I saw before would only sell me 2 a day to have along with a meal.

Any advice or shared experiences would be appreciated!!! I am really nervous about even calling the consultants because it's such a big commitment and I don't want to mess anyone around or waste their time.

Also, I know there is a thread stickied about this but it seems quite old so wondered if they were still strict on it

Hey Hun , they'll most probably say you have to do step 2 till your BMI hits 40 or under, that's still 3 shakes a day plus milk and a meal, not sure why they changed the rules but talk to your new consultant and check out your options, also call email loads of consultants, you won't be wasting their time, you need to find someone you are comfortable with as at end of the day you'll be giving them business

There are some hidden steps that allow you to avoid all food with a high bmi. They involve having 4 products plus milk. It is a lot of milk. However once you've done that for a bit (couple of weeks I think) you can drop the milk. Any CDC should be able to put you on this plan. Give a local consultant a call and tell them
Your bmi and that you've heard of ss+ with milk as a liquid only option and you'd like to do that. They should be willing to do it with you!

    Good luck!

Thanks so much for the replies. I contacted a CDC and have met a really lovely lady who had heard of the SS with milk; she's put me on that and we've worked out a plan so every 2 hours I'm either drinking a milkshake or half a pint of milk.... I am going to be so full!!!! Can't believe my other CDC didn't mention it to me before! The lady I met last night said that it isn't in the main book but she had a fact sheet about it

I'm just doing my training and it is in the consultant workbook now. But not in the client steps book. Good luck. You'll do fab!
