    Back on track

Well, after a two week break where I went mad in Holland and ate all sorts of contraband resulting in a 17lb gain, I'm back on track with my first week back on SS bringing an 11lb loss.

It was easier than I anticipated - easier than my initial start back in March actually. I didn't obssess about food, didn't dream about it and didn't get the consuming, gnawing hunger that I experienced the first time round. Also it was easy to get into the water intake thing whereas I had to build up to it in March.

Last time, I lost exactly the same in my 1st week and then 2lb in my second. It'll be interesting to see if I do the same again.

Just thought I'd post this to encourage anyone who is dreading a restart: it's not as bad as you imagine providing you get your head in the right place. If you look at it from a positive viewpoint then it's really not as difficult as you may be anticipating!
    Starting weight - 20th Oct 2011 17st 11lb

    WK3 - 11th Nov - 16st 10lb (-3lb)
    WK4 - 18th Nov -16st 8lb (-2lb)
    Total for 4 weeks = 17lb

    WK5 - 25th Nov - 16st 8lb (STS)
    9th Dec - 16st 3lb (-5lb)

Maybe im being really thick..but how is it possible to gain so much weight in a short time? Im getting scared! Will i gain loads as i start eating more and more?
Im really sorry if im being rude..im not, its just a query. Dont mean to upset anyone!
But I have read many who go on 1 or 2 week breaks and put on quite a bit of weight in that short time. What is it? Water?

    OK g1981 ... don't panic

My two week break was because of finances .... I knew I was going back on CD though. On top of that, I had a week's holiday in Holland whilst I was on my break. So knowing that I hadn't finished my journey, knowing I wasn't ready to 'maintain, I reacted like someone on 'foodie death row' and packed in as much as I could before I started sole sourcing again - daft I know but there you are.

I basically grazed on high cal snacks all day - every day. I did EVERYTHING wrong (but knew I was doing it). Crisps, biscuits, Dutch pancakes, chocolate - you name it, I ate it. My glycogen stores whacked straight back on plus any water weight (those together probably accounted for 10lb of the gain) the other 7lb was plain old fat but I'm not surprised knowing what I ate. I didn't even eat like that BEFORE I was on CD!

When I get to goal and start maintaining properly, I certainly won't be picking, nibbling and grazing like I did.

So there it is - you won't gain heaps of weight quickly if you go through the proper stabilisation process and step up into proper, sensible eating. If you go straight from sole source to eating for England then the chances are you'll follow in my footsteps (not advised!)

Good on you for getting back on track so quickly and continuing your excellent progress so far. It's a lesson to us all at how easily it can go back on if you let it. Thanks for being so honest!

    Woohooo!!!! Yeay Debbie!

I'm a veteran 're-starter' as you know - although I've never thought about myself that way as every time I had my times off CD, they were planned and I got straight back into the diet as soon as I returned .. just as I've done after this last weekend away (3 lbs regained in case you're wondering ). It really isn't nearly as bad as some people think it's going to be. In fact, I think the fear of doing it is often far worse than the reality of just opening those packs and just sodding well getting on with it

You'll soon get shot of that remaining 6 lbs - and then it's second star on the right and straight on to your goal weight

    Much love

You always put things soooo well debbie - there's way too much negative press telling us that VLCD's result in huge weight gains when returning to conventional food - really makes me cross 'cos it often puts people off what we all know is a brilliant plan. I'm now on week 9 of maintenance and absolutely know it works
