    Struggling with AAM... any advice?

    Hi everyone,

I am doing AAM (day 3) and apart from being hungry on it, I have a terrible headache too (like the first 3 days of the diet - painkillers don't touch it). I didn't bank on feeling like this, and was actually looking forward to it. I am having milkshake PH porridge at 9am and water all day and soup pack at 1.30pm, then AAM at 6pm and another milkshake made into mousse at 9pm. I am drinking at least 3 litres water as usual, and more like 4 most days. I am still in a weak-moderate ketosis, although not as good as it was before.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any thoughts on what is going on inside me? Or advice about what to do to get rid of headache?

    Thanks
    Clairabellxxxxx

    Hi Clairabell,
What have you been eating for your aam...it sounds like something has knocked you out of ketosis?

If you have stuck within what is allowed in yellow book for AAM you should have stayed in ketosis and shouldn't be hungry. There is no weak/moderate levels of ketosis - you are either in it or not! The colour guide on the side of the container is a guage to how concentrated the keytones are - ie the darker the colour the more dehydrated you are.

Could you be going down with a bug or flu??? There are so many around at the moment and they can make you feel rough.

I'd suggest speaking to your CDC and maybe suggesting you discontinue AAM at the moment.

Hope you soon feel better and get rid of that nasty headache. Take care.

    Thanks both,

My meals were just chicken and broccoli, altho the first night I put salt on the chicken, without realising this could make me retain water.

I didn't want to ask my CDC as she told me I didn't really need to do AAM week anyway - but most people on this site thought it was a good idea, and since I am on blood pressure medication I thought I should follow the diet to the letter.

I have felt better today - this morning I was fine and the headache came back a little this afternoon, but certainly not as bad as it was.

I might well be getting a bug - all around me are dropping with it, so maybe that is all it is.

    Thanks for your advice.

Thanks everyone, seem to feel ok now. must be being surrounded by germy kids and partner at half-term - better they all go back to school and work and I can get back to concentrating on diet and regaining my health! (Bah humbug!)

No really I do feel better - think I had one of their bugs - have managed to stick with AAM and quite enjoying the novelty of food again.

    Love to u all!
