Returner Woes...anyone challenged by beginning slow weight loss?

Hello everyone!
Thank you for being out there...

I came to MiniMins for support. I've read dozens of postings of amazing weight loss on VLCD diets. I have done them twice before and been very successful. The last time, I lost 75 lbs and kept it off for six years. I was then injured in an accident and unable to walk for a year and a half and gradually over the course of my recovery put on most of the weight I had lost. This happened over the last three years. :( I now have to lose four stone to get back to where I was before.

Anyway, I started CD (which I used before) and was really discouraged with my early weight losses. First week, I lost under five lbs and this week a whopping....Two lbs. :(
I have been in ketosis as I checked every other day. Having done CD before, these are typical weight losses when you are closer to goal...not four stone away from it! I must not be doing something right though I am following the program to the letter.

The last go round I did when I lost weight on CD (which I mentioned above), I lost 25 lbs in the first month, so that was an average of 8 lbs a week. This round, I am discouraged. Seven pounds in two weeks is not even close. After going to meet with my consultant, I sat in my car and bawled as the first two weeks have been really a struggle...hunger, lightheadedness, etc. (No, I am not quitting, I just needed a big girl boohoo.)

I have stuck to the program, no cheats, which is why I was shocked when I got on the scales. Should I be drinking more than 2.5 litres of water? Should I stop exercising? (I do a mile on the elliptical trainer daily and was going to build up to more...maybe this slows down loss?)
BTW, I am 50, post-menopausal (as I was the last time, too) and a smidge over five feet.

I know CD works as it has worked for me in the past. If anyone knows what might be happening or what I can do to better my losses...or even just encouragement (has this ever happened to you or someone you know?) Gosh, I sure would love to hear from you.

Thank you again.

Hi,

I'm on my second attempt at CWP, did SS last year and got just over a stone away from target then moved house and couldn't afford to do the plan anymore so had to stop where I was. I didn't even bother trying to be healthy and gave up and had a summer full of indulgence and drinking most evenings with friends after work meaning I'm now back here with 3 stone to lose again. I have my weigh in's fortnightly and just had my first one today- been 100% for the two weeks other than a planned meal of turkey and vegetables…lost a measly 3lbs!!!! Gutted did not even describe my reaction and my consultant doesn't know what happened either…guess I just need to keep going and hope that it evens out but it's just such a let down when I've been going out of my way to do everything right this time…drinking at least 2.5-3L water each day, 3 shakes and that's it.
Same as you, I know the plan works from previous experience but I can't help but feel like it's a waste of all this money if the losses are going to be so minuscule!
I even had my measurements checked to see if they had changed instead of showing on the scales but there was little to no movement on those too :(
