Christmas Day - what will you eat?

So nervous about Christmas Day and all that food! My plan is to eat a small Christmas dinner but eat none of the picky bits. I will have a drink too! Decided it's the one time of year that I'm not going to deprive myself but at the same time don't want to go mad. I've lost 2 stone 2lbs in 6 weeks hoping for another stone before Christmas so whilst I accept I'll put a few pounds on, I'm determined not to undo all the hard work!! What are you going to do?

I'm only just starting out, but have done cambridge before. you COULD stay in ketosis if you wanted and still eat meat. Just not all the veg n' trimmings. Another way to think of it is a step up - if you look at the website there are steps where you have shakes and a meal, so you could have 2 shakes and xmas dinner :). If you used a smaller plate, and kept a mind on things like stuffing / trimmings and more meat than veggies you really won't do a big amount of harm. You won't be able to eat a great deal as your tummy will have shrunk anyhow, so go easy. :)

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet.. gotta get there first! my eyes are firmly on the now and next few weeks.

Well done on your losses, and keep going - 5 weeks to go yet! ;)

you really need to break ketosis first if you want to drink even just a few glasses as the effect can be extremely dangerous to some.

what ever you decide it is the next day that counts get straight back to it then

Hi yes I think going up a step is the only way, just can't bring myself to drink a shake on Christmas Day!! Great advice thank you!!!

As for alcohol I've been on SS since day one however on two occasions in 6 weeks I've had champagne and white wine!! 3 glasses of white wine in one sitting I might add!! No effect at all even though I was definitely in ketosis... Now I'm not advocating drinking at all on this diet just saying I'm still alive!! ?

I know someone who used Cambridge when I did in the past, after seeing my losses on it. She did it monday - friday and 'ate and drank what she wanted' at the weekend.. her words. I was amazed at her will power for going back on on a monday, but she lost about 4 stone 'her way'. Her reasons were that her husband was around at weekends and no way would he like the idea of her not eating, he worked long hours in the week and never noticed! lol He noticed the weight loss mind you.

I guess everyone is different. I don't drink so that isn't an issue I've thought of, or have any knowledge on the health side of things, but I'm sure you could research it or ask counsellor / here for more advice. :)

Hi thanks, it's interesting what some people can tolerate isn't it without coming out of ketosis. I ate a veg curry white rice and a poppadom and remained in ketosis!! However I'm not silly enough to think I can eat what I want and remain in ketosis!!! But I guess I'm not as sensitive to carbs as I thought, other than that I have been ss since day one and lost 2 stone 2 lbs in 6 weeks... I think it's very individual and we all need to find what works for us. Good luck for your next weigh in!! ?

hey everyone

I have only just started the CWP (day 4 today)

I am dreading christmas already! I am hoping I will have lost a minimum of a stone by chrimbo (seems realistic in 5 weeks from my extensive searches into other peoples progress)

I have already planned to not restrict myself too much on xmas day. Im not too fussed about the choccys and sweets but I will not be resisting my moms massive feast! But I will be sensible and have meats and veg - avoid potatoes and carbs at ALL COSTS! and I probably wont touch the alcohol or fizzy pops! water water water!

Come on guys we can all do this :D

I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. I've got dinner with my sister's family on the 21st, Christmas with my parents, Boxing Day with my in-laws and a wedding on the 28th.

That's a lot of munching!

I'm now 6 months in to the diet. I'm doing it with two friends. We have found depending on your body you can have a day off and even still loose that week. We all went to pizza hut, and none of us put weight on. Only one of us lost weight though. I'm really lucky, I can have at least two days of a month and still loose a good amount of weight.
What I have found though is that it is so so much harder to go back to it. Especially when there is left overs that are too tasty to bin.

It is possible to just eat a little and no carbs like suggested, so not much veg, if there is veg stick veg that grews over ground if you can its lower in carb value. But even if you are knocked out of ketosis its not the end of the world, you will feel like you are starting over on your first day again, so you will go through all the things you did then.
For me that was hunger, cravings and a sore head, but each time the sore head gets less sore.

I'm on step 4 now, and I still lost 2lb this week. with in step 4 it says as long as you get your vitamins from making sure you have your fruit and veg ect you can make meals up to the calorie values.

While I don't recommend messing about with it on a daily basis, now and again I see no issues. For example, at breakfast time I might just eat my fruit not my yogurt or milk or anything, maybe I'm not that hungry and I just have those for lunch. That then means I could have my 200 - 250 calorie lunch still to have by tea time.
Maybe for christmas day I could add that to my dinner allowance and instead of a 300 calorie dinner I have one that is 400 - 450 ish depending on what fruit I had.
If I'm not having products that is another 200 odd calories at least. so that makes it 650 ish. That is a good sized christmas dinner.

I don't think its good to not eat so much for ages then eat so much in one sitting. But that is what we do at christmas, maybe if christmas dinner is at lunch time we wont really want to eat too much more for the rest of the day.

I think the thing is, just don't go mad. I went a bit mad one day and ate a good 5000 calories and only put on 2lb. I know that is me. But its one day, it will be rubbish other wise. And the temptation and the stress would be too much. To drink you do need to eat anyway. Just don't do what I did and eat so much at a BBQ that I was actually sick lol

My plan for christmas day is a day off. My weight loss will be slower because of that. But its christmas! its my gift to me :D :D :D :D
I think cooking things as healthy as poss and using a smaller plate, eating less really does help. And as other people said, it takes less to be full after a while of not eating much or not eating anything.
Good luck for the festive season guys. We can do this! I want thin more than I want mince pies!!! I bought a dress for christmas day a full dress size smaller than me, I can get it zipped up now its just very tight, so I have good motivation to be good till christmas day.

Hope that is helpfull...

I've decided on xmas day off only. I'm lucky we only have one xmas dinner as no parents and we're miles from family. So it'll be french toast (fresh eggs with white bread) for breakfast, then roast dinner lunch and chocolate trifle (homemade) for dinner :) sod it.. nothing comes between me and trifle on xmas day! lol some chocs added before 8pm and a new day starts the next day. lol

I WILL be aiming to be back on the wagon on boxing day, i've already started avoiding goodies this month, I don't have an advent calender, eldest has been baking at school and I've avoided that.. just my youngest girls birthday on the 17th to avoid food in and I'll have done well. :)

Hi guys,

I'm new to MinMins... But not to CWP! My current weight is 10st 13lbs and I want to reach my first mini target of 10st 5lbs by 31st dec. So that's 9lbs, hoping this is possible??.
Here's the plan 1week on 810 step and 2 weeks on step 1000.
Any advice and support would be helpful
xxxx

Hey

I'm 10.11 and I'm also think it'd be nice to get down to 10.5 for my holidays abroad. I've dipped on and off the shakes for a while now, but thinking aside for Christmas Day most of my party nights have past. Good luck!
