    Clare's CD Diary

    Day One

So today I start the Cambridge Diet, and starting myself on step 1. I met with my CDC today and I'm really looking forward to getting properly into this. I know the 1st week will be the hardest but if I just give myself the 7 days before my next weigh-in, then I know it'll be worth it in the end.

Having my 1st shake now - a wee ready made banana one and I'm pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to drink. I am feeling a little bit sicky though, but my CDC did warn me that might happen.

It just feels a bit weird not having any food, but I'm sure I'll get over that soon enough.

I'm struggling a little bit just now...I've had a really hard day at work, and I think this is proving just how much I really use food as a tool for dealing with stress as there are so many foods I want just now.
I've bought some chicken and I'm currently on the way home so thinking that today might be a SS+ day as not sure I can get through this whole day without and actual food. Day 1 is proving harder than I thought though.
I also feel a bit sickly...although I think it is down to the high concentration of vitamins and stuff in one go. I hope I don't struggle this much the whole time

You absolutely can get through the day without food - it's a mental thing!

Try and not eat. You'll wake up tomorrow with a real sense of achievement and satisfaction if you resist.

What are your stats? Unable to see from my iPhone

Come and read my diary and chat with us if you want to? We've all been there and know how tough it is.

I was over 15 stone last year and have lost over 6 stone - it can be done with iron will

Hope to chat soon - step away from the food - and lots of luck

Oh and you'll feel sick as a dog and wiped out for a lot of week one. It's a bit of a killer

    Hi GretaGrip,

Thanks for the reply! It's really helped me out. I've just forced down a vegetable soup - didn't like it too much - but I think it's just the sicky feeling which is getting to me, as it was making me feel a bit sensitive in the tummy - haha.

The chicken is there, but I am trying so hard to resist it. I think I'm just finding today hard as I waited until nearly 2pm until my first shake as I had a late meeting with my CDC on day 1. I'm hoping day 2 goes easier for me.

I can see me needing this place a LOT though. I'm a bit worried already if I'm struggling on just day 1.

I'm 5'1" and 13st10lbs (the heaviest i've EVER been) and so have quite a lot to lose. I'm trying to just take things 1 day at a time though and not concentrate on the total amount I need to shift, just doing as much as I can week by week.

Try amending your goal weight on here... I'd recommend making your target 12 stone 13.... it's really motivating to smash that target < perfectly doable in the next week or so > and then re set it to 12 stone 7 and so on and so forth.. it's infinitely more motivating than seeing ' 5 stone plus ' to lose.

And take the diet a day at a time... sometimes I had to take it an hour at a time, it was so bad.

Once the first week has passed and you get that motivating first big loss, you'll start to feel more in control. But it is very hard at first. Reading other people's journeys can really help

Thanks for the tips - I think I'll go and amend my stats now and then I think you're right, I'll feel much more motivated as I go through the weeks I've started reading through peoples' journeys on here and it is definitely helping. Just trying to keep myself really busy and remind myself I don't *need* food as my body has all it needs just now.

    Hi.

Is that you in your pf pic? I love your hair.

I'm nearing the end of my first week. Not had as many side effects as I thought I would but hey everyones different.

So many times this week I've resisted food because like getagrip said, the feeling in the morning knowing you resisted is just far more satisfying than giving in.

    Good luck x

It is me in my pic - the hairstyle is gone though loved it but I have a couple of weird kinks in my parting so fringes are HARD work - lol.

I'm trying so hard to avoid the food...I think that'll be easier when the queasy feeling goes away.

Great to know that there's someone else at the same stage as me (but a few days ahead)...x

I'm struggling to drink that much...been spending WAY too much time on the toilet haha. Might have myself a wee green tea before I go to bed as I could do with a slightly different flavour than the aftertaste of my soup (bleurgh) x

I really hope I do. I had to literally force down the soup. It was weird - the taste wasn't particularly bad, I was struggling to get it down though. I'm hoping that becomes easier. I'm proud of myself though - I have accidentally been sitting beside two tubs of Pringles (opened from the weekend) and have actually had zero desire to eat them. Practically unheard of.

I have a long meeting tomorrow and SO worried I'll need to wee all the way through it! x
