Newbie here, never dieted before

Hi All,

My name's Andy, I'm 34 and a shade over 16 stone according to my scales and 16st 6lbs according to my CD person, so i'll go with theirs seeing as they'll be measuring me weekly.

I've always had to watch my weight and was keeping it under control with plenty of running until October last year when I developed a bad back, which has plagued me ever since and recently been diagnosed as a degenerative disc problem. Since my back pain i've piled on a couple of stone and as I was already trying to lose weight I have set a target of getting down to 13st.

I'm on my second day at the moment, i'm doing Sole Source and TBH i'm not finding it too bad, had a few cravings but nothing that some sparkling water doesn't sort out - suppose it's easier as being 6ft & my BMI being 32.4 I'm on 4 packs so not too long between "meals"

Just going to update this thread with my thoughts and experiences for anyone whos interested.

Good luck everyone.

Andy

Day 3 :

Banana Bliss Ready Made for brekkers, Cappuccino shake for lunch (mmm), going to have another shake shortly (undecided which yet) and then my favourite - oriental chilli soup around 8pm.

Today has been OK so far, but a marked difference on the first couple of days, I've had 4 litres of water already and i'm feeling a bit light-headed to be honest, but not hungry - strange.

Hoping I'm in ketosis - got a horrible taste in my mouth.

So far been 100% and I'm confident i'll be able to stay 100% for weeks :)

Hi , i am also on day 3 .... it's not too bad..... day one killed me , i was craving anything and everything but now i hope that the stomach rumbles are going and also im heading into ketosis. (no horrible taste yet)!

I hope i can stay on it for the 12 weeks.........WILLPOWER!!!! : )

Well done for taking the first step BottomFeeder (loving the username lol!)

The first step is always the hardest but it looks like you are getting on really well. Your over the worst of it already!

I am intrigued to see how you get on as my partner weighs around the same as you do now and has never dieted before. He was really slim up until he was about 19, actually he is was probably underweight but he could eat and eat and eat and not gain a pound. He started work and all went well but as he started building muscle he started to bulk out but he never changed his eating habits and the excess weight started to creep on. His metabolism slowed right down. To me he looks fine, he doesn't look overweight as he is stocky and it suits him, he has lots of muscle in his arms and legs from grafting but obviously for health reasons he wants to lose a couple of stones and pick up the excersise.

I will keep popping back to see how you are doing. Maybe you can be of inspiration to my partner :) Well done to you already! x

Hi Andy

I'm same as you. Runner but got injuries , then gained weight :-(

Well done for getting this far :) I'm day 20 and winning so far. Didn't think I'd make it.

P.S don't try to run. It's like driving a car with no petrol in. I nearly blacked out running through the woods. Had to lay on ground and elevate my legs up against a tree. Had to walk home (the shame was immense!)

Thanks guys, really appreciate the kinds words.

I can't run, too much pain, I can't even jog :-( so no chance of that hehe.

Sherrie, i'm exactly the same as your partner, people say i'm not big - even my CDC said I wasn't when I first met her, but I just wear it well being quite tall and broad shouldered with a bit of muscle on.

Day 4: Vanilla shake for breakfast mmmm mmm & fruits of the forest shake for lunch mmmm mmmm again!

Today i'm not even feeling slightly hungry & having to remind myself to eat my shakes, went to the garden centre with the missus and sat with a black coffee whilst she munched a bacon butty haha :) didn't want it & felt proud that I didn't :)

Reckon it'll be easier from now on in!

Well done! Its a massive buzz and achievement not wanting the food that is surrounding you! If you can keep positive about it and think "I'm glad that I'm missing out on all those calories" rather than "I'm sad that I'm missing out" then you will definitely succeed. Positivity is key :) x

This evening was proper tough, arrived at my brother's house to stay for the night, they didn't know I had started cambridge (they do now!) problems:

1) I was offered a beer as soon as I walked in the door
2) They were just finishing off cooking a full minted lamb roast with dauphinoise potatoes, veg + all the trimmings - which smelt like heaven
3) My bro's missus was cooking cakes, quiches and various tasty stuff for my grandma's wake after her funeral tomorrow - also smelt like win
4) The kids were eating and trying to give me bits of their food as usual hehe

Politely declined everything, and talked about how the diet works whilst having my banana tetra brick hehe

It helps that my bro's missus has offered to cook for me when I get to my target weight.

Also, as I walked through the door they both commented that I'd lost weight and my face looked thinner, I've not told them I was dieting so well happy with that for day 4 :)

Happy days!

Big well done for sticking to plan and not giving in with all that food! That's some will power right there!!
Big buzz to hear you've lost weight too isn't it :) xx

Currently at a wake - so many tasty treats but I'm sipping my coffee like a boss & feeling strong

Can't wait until 12 to have my leek and potato soup (haha)

Sounds like you have taken control! I love coffee, would like to think I drink it like 'a boss' too haha! Hope today goes well for you and your family x

Day 5

Today was my grandma's funeral, which in addition to being emotional, was followed by a wake back at my brothers with a delicious buffet (the stuff I'd smelt and seen being prepared the previous night hehe).

I managed to successfully steer clear of any of the food & just had my 4 CWP products, plus a boat load of water + coffee.

Feeling good! I've now done 5 days full 100% and it does seem to be getting easier.

If I can manage today, I can manage anything :)

Well done Andy. It would've been easy to go with the flow and eat, especially if you're upset.

Sorry to hear about your grandma...

Hope you continue to feel strong :)

Aww bless you both. You can definitely get through this if you have been faced with such a challenge and won already! Well done x

Day 6

Major blow. Just been offered full hospitality to the F1 this weekend at Silverstone by a vendor, champagne breakfast, full lunch and then afternoon tea.

I've given it to one of my team, which has provided 2 benefits.

1) They think I'm an epic boss
2) I stay 100%

FML haha
