Starting again...

Hi all

Did SW last year and lost nearly two stone. However, stopped over October, November, December and have put on nearly a stone - but feel like I am almost back at the beginning again! Any tips for starting again?
I am finding it difficult cooking different meals with the limited budget I have (student).

Can anybody suggest a budget shopping list, at least? Feeling all by myself here!

Hi bumblebee - you're not alone! This is pretty much my shopping list, which I buy from Asda or Tesco, and it comes to around £25. I didn't eat as healthily as this when I was a student, and probably spent a small fortune on takeaways and Ben & Jerry's tubs which I'm regretting! So:

Meat
Chicken breasts x 4
John West tuna

Veg
Whole green beans (frozen)
Broccoli (frozen)
Garden peas (frozen)
Carrots
A red pepper
Mushrooms
Red kidney beans
Salad stuff - tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, red onions

Fruit
Bananas
Peaches

Starchy carbs
New potatoes and baking potatoes
Basmati rice
Wholemeal pitta breads

Herbs, spices, seasoning etc
Garlic bulb
Chillies
A lemon
Packet mixes for peppercorn sauce, mushroom sauce

Drinks and misc.
Robinsons squash
Milk
Baked beans
Knorr thick vegetable soup
Red berry cereal (any variety)

Ideas for main meals:

- Grilled chicken with 3 or 4 veg and peppercorn sauce - 450 cals
- Chicken & veg stir-fry with fine noodles and a soy/ginger marinade
- Mushroom risotto with garlic and white wine sauce, no cheese
- Baked potato stuffed with tuna / peppery mushrooms / beans and some side salad
- Spicy bean burgers with homemade mash and green beans
- Chicken in spicy tomato & basil sauce with 100g penne pasta

Obviously just adapt these to the kind of things you like to eat :p. It's worth scouring local markets or grocers if you have any nearby; I buy 3 packs of blueberries for £1, pineapples for 40p etc from the local greengrocer, and a big chicken breast from the butcher for £1.25. I don't buy cheese, chocolate, biscuits or loaves of bread, and I don't drink tea, coffee or alcohol. If you're a vegetarian though...er, please accept my apologies
