Utah Teens Accused of Trading Pictures Over Cell Phones

Anyone else think this is taking things too far?

A group of six Farmington Junior High School students from Farmington, Utah, could be facing criminal charges for trading nude pictures of themselves over their cell phones.

According to Police Lt. Shane Whitaker there were at least six students between the ages of 13 and 14 who took nude photographs of themselves before sending them off to friends.

The mother of one of the teens found the pictures on their child’s phone and called police. When questioned the teens involved in the pictures said they had done it as a joke.

At first it was thought they would face felony charges (serious crime which can be punished by one or more years in prison), but now it looks like they are criminal charges for dealing in harmful materials to a minor.

Geesh....surely this is just an modern version of 'you show me yours..and I'll show you mine?'

I imagine they were members of the Church there too thereby breaking their moral code too which is what the mum would have been more concerned with.

Big bible belt there, so it probably is as the above post. We lived in Texas and it was similar there too. Even the children were indoctrinated too! It did have it's good points in that the children were still quite innocent. My daughters friends who were 12years were worried that I wanted them to watch a 12A (EQUIV) film as some of them hadn't had their 12th birthday yet! They still played with Barbies and my DD had ditched hers at 6!

I think it went from Barbies to hand guns.......

heyyyyyyyyyyyyyy my girls played with their Barbies when they were 12!!

Agree with you here. Though I don't have girls, and my boys weren't interested :D

There's lots of girls that play with Barbies at the age of 12. Most of them don't tell their friends though. Shame :(
